About the Organization

The Vampire Court of Dallas / Fort Worth is a federally certified 501(c)3

charitable organization that seeks to perform actions and events that

directly impact the local area. We do this by partnering with local clubs

and venues throughout the DFW metroplex, as well as many local busi-

nesses, with the goal of simply doing good in the city that we love.

Through these efforts we have raised over $15,000 over the past three

years for many local charities, supporting various causes including:

Children with Medical Needs, Heart Research, Blood Donation, Exotic

Animal Shelters, Veterans Needs, and Domestic Abuse Treatment/

Prevention… with many more to come. Additionally, we are one of the

few charities that is also 100% donor supported, with every cent raised

going to support these important causes.

Semifang Project The Semifang project is our own

take on the semicolon project; an

anti-suicide awareness project that

focuses on the function of a semico-

lon: where a sentence that the au-

thor could've ended but chose not

to. In this case, the author is you;

the sentence is your life.

A semicolon represents everyone

who is feeling suicidal or struggling

with mental illness. Those who are

living with anxiety, depression, self

harm, suicidal tendencies, addiction,

or learning to live without a loved

one.

Every second week of September,

the VCD does a week long social

media blitz where members share

photos and tell their own stories,

proving that nobody is alone with

their struggles, that it’s okay to ask

for help, and that we can all find the

strength within to keep the sentence

going.

Beginning in Dallas in 2017, the

Semifang Project has now inspired

other individuals and organizations

across the country to spread a mes-

sage of hope to those who feel iso-

lated and hopeless.

Bleeding Hearts Ball A driving part of the VCD’s success has been our ability to engage and empower

various alternative subcultures by hosting fundraising events that directly impact the

local area. We are thankful for the generous partnerships we’ve made with local

clubs, venues, and small businesses throughout the DFW metroplex, all with the

goal of simply doing some good in the city that we love..

Our first Bleeding Hearts ball was in 2017, benefiting the Texas Heart Association,

followed by the Heart of Gold foundation, and finally the North Texas Veterans Initia-

tive. Each of these have been held at The Church (AKA the Lizard Lounge) and fea-

tures performances, vendors, and package prizes that are raffled off.

Among our own subculture, the Bleeding Hearts Ball has become “the place to be”

as Courts across the globe come see how we began the trend to exist as a tax-

exempt charitable organization.

The (Unofficially Annual) Toy Drive

While it hasn’t become a ‘set-in-stone’ annual event, the VCD has

kept up with a Holiday/Krampus styled event that also serves as a

toy drive to underprivileged families. Stay tuned to find out where

we’ll be, spreading joy and holiday cheer this December.

Venue Partnerships

We have worked with a variety of venues across DFW, not limited

to The Church, RBC, The N9nes, Panopticon, Station 4, Sue Ellens,

Viva's, and 4 Kahunas Tiki Lounge.

We’re constantly looking for new locations to expand our

philanthropic outreach; contact us if you’re interested.

Our flagship fundraiser has a carnival-like feeling, with a dark/alt subculture twist.

Facts about Human

Trafficking Today

In 2013, 10 percent of all

human trafficking tips re-

ceived by the National Hu-

man Trafficking Resource

Center (NHTRC) hotline

were about Texas.

Sex trafficking is the fastest

growing business of orga-

nized crime, and the third

largest criminal enterprise in

the world.

Human trafficking also in-

cludes forced labor, not dis-

criminating by gender or

race, trapped as ‘indentured

servitude’.

Due to our laws that prohibit

prostitution, those attempt-

ing to escape sex trafficking

are often treated as crimi-

nals and processed for de-

portation, causing the vic-

tims to rather remain as sex

slaves than risk going back

to their country of origin.

It’s gotten so bad that flight

attendants are being trained

in spotting instances of traf-

ficking on commercial air-

lines.

It’s brazenly being done

out in the open.

Trafficking is a massive, soul-

less, daily tragedy for the vic-

tims… precisely why the VCD

is proud to be working with

NTCAHT this year.

Frequently Asked Questions Where did the idea for this organization come from?

The idea itself came really from a collective desire to serve the local community and build an organization of like-minded folks that wanted

to lift each other up through the ups and downs we experience on a day-to-day basis. From there, we examined several other subcultural

communities like ours that already were active nationally in cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Austin - and wanted something similar to

what they are doing (through celebrating the culture, history, and archetypes of the vampire as well other types of archetypal identification)

while putting the emphasis on being a positive influence not only for our members but for the landscape of Dallas / Fort Worth as a whole.

We wanted to be fully member controlled/driven as much as possible, while applying for – and maintaining – a nationally recognized charity

status via our 501(c) 3 certification.

What are some common misconceptions about the VCD?

The two biggest misconceptions some people have is the assumption that there is some sort of evil or villainous undertone to what we do in

our day to day. The other is that our members show up to our meetings bedecked in dark clothing and costume fangs. We have a great

number of hard-working professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds, practicing any number of religions (or none at all), dietary re-

strictions, musical tastes, and cultural identities. The only three things that we all share in various degrees is a love of the DFW community,

a desire to do good, and a love of the darker aspects of culture and history.

What organizations do you most commonly work with?

We have worked with a great many charity organizations throughout Dallas/Fort Worth, all of which are visible on our website, along with

several local businesses that help promote and enable our fundraising operations to support these amazing efforts. The main criteria we

use in choosing any partner is that they are local to the DFW area, are small/growing, and share the same love of community that we do

with a deep passion for their cause. Throughout every single one of our efforts, we have been positively amazed at the wide array of local

charities here in Dallas that have made a difference one person at a time through their generous efforts. This is one of the biggest things

that keep all of us doing what we do to help.

The VCD is a fully-democratic member-driven group that gives our membership a voice in the day to day business and

future actions of the organization. While our role is steadily growing in the metropolitan landscape of Dallas, we seek to not

only make a positive impact locally, but also nationally, through our example of acceptance, inclusion, and diversity.
