detailed information regarding the center activities and policies.
2018
No, we will not begin this year with some useless resolutions that only bring about more stress and disappointment when we don’t fulfill them. We will however promise to handle each problem as it comes; you can only handle one at a time anyway. Promise not to be fearful; for most things we fear never come to pass. Promise not to worry; worry is the most unproductive of all human activities. When moving about the Senior Center and talking with one another, promise not to borrow other peoples problems, they can better care for them than you. Lastly, taking a trip down memory lane is great when reliving a positive moment but it too is forever gone. Focus on what is happening in your life now and who is in your life now! Let’s experience all that 2018 has to offer together.
Keep Moving – Sean

Community Needs Assessment Survey
Please help the Bluegrass Area Agency on Aging & Independent Living collect as much information as possible about the needs in our community. It is easy to have your voice heard! Just pick up a paper survey which will be
available in the Center Café. You can also complete the survey online at www.bgaaail.org (click on the survey link).
The more information they obtain from the survey, the better they are able to direct efforts to effectively support the community.
Please complete the surveys and turn them in by Friday, January 26. Thank you!

Activities and Education
Carolyn’s Corner Book Club
The Book Club will not meet in January. The February readings will be The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins discussed on February 1 and Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie discussed on February 15. February 1 – Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins (2015). For Rachel every day’s commute is the same. She takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost. And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel goes to the police. But is she really as unreliable as they say? Soon she is deeply entangled not only in the investigation but in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good? February 15 – Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express (1934).
Just after midnight, the famous Orient Express is stopped in its tracks by a snowdrift. By morning, the millionaire Samuel Ratchett lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. One of his fellow passengers must be the murderer. Isolated by the storm and with a killer in their midst, detective Hercule Poirot must find the killer amongst a dozen of the dead man's enemies, before the murderer decides to strike again.

FRESH STOP MARKETS Now you Know
What are Fresh Stop Markets? Farm-fresh food markets that pop up at local churches and community centers—in fresh food insecure neighborhoods. The food has been paid for in advance so that farmers don’t face the same degree of risk as they do with a standard farmers’ market. Community members pay on an income-based sliding scale for a share of fresh produce. Every Market has a chef cooking up the very same vegetables and fruits that shareholders bring home. The Beet Beat newsletter has recipes and stories from Fresh Stop Markets around the state. Do you want to learn how you can be involved in helping others access fresh fruits and veggies? Want to get in on enjoying this bounty of fresh food? Come meet with us!
