The March 18th recital, “A Musical Collage for Voice, Violin and Piano” presented by Orchestra Kentucky founding mem- ber Helen Motter with piano accompaniment by Carlos Martinez was a particularly beautiful and inspired program held at First Christian Church. The selections were pri- marily drawn from 18th and 19th century classical music with two versions of “Ave Maria” played and sung along with a lovely Bach violin work. The in- fluence of film was not for- gotten with an evocative violin and piano rendition of composer John Wil- liams’ “Remembrances” from Schindler’s List. An- other 20th century work, “Pavane” written for piano solo by Lloyd Webber, the father of showman Andrew Lloyd Webber was played. In addition to her profes- sion as a concert violinist, Helen Motter, is a classi- cally trained as an opera singer. Song selections with superb piano accom- paniment by former child prodigy, Carlos Martinez were “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” and “Think of Me” which put the listeners in mind of the soaring soprano voice of Sarah Brightman. The final, haunting melody was composer Tom Fettke’s “The Majesty and Glory of Your Name” as Helen and Carlos gave thanks to the source of their musi- cal inspiration and talents. After a standing ovation, the audience and musicians enjoyed refreshments pro- vided by hostesses Connie Pickett, Dottie Kinsman and Norma Redford. The Easter breakfast starts Glasgow Musicale’s annual Membership Drive for renewals and new members. Dues are $25.00 individual or $35.00 fam- ily.
