All of us have been baptized into one and the same Spirit; let us live, then, by the Spirit! That same Spirit, the Advocate, who “renews the face of the earth”, was given as gift to the disciples to

strengthen them to go forth in the name of the Lord, and to obtain forgiveness of sins.

A Prayer for Memorial Day

Remember, Lord, the fallen Who died in fields of war,

In flaming clouds, in screaming crowds, On streets that are no more, That we today might waken

And greet this day in peace With grateful prayer for those who bear

The storms that never cease.

Remember friends and strangers, And those forgotten now,

Whose names are known to you alone, Before whose love we bow

And ask that you surround them With mercy’s endless light

That they may live, and we forgive The foe they went to fight.

Remember, Lord, the living, Who bear the pain of loss

- A death she died who stood beside Her Son upon the cross.

Remember all your children The dead and those who weep,

And make us one beneath the sun Where love will never sleep.

The World Meeting of Families Prayer

pel. May the example of the Ho-ly Family, with the aid of your Ho-

ly Spirit, guide all families, espe-cially those most troubled, to be homes of communion and prayer and to always seek

your truth and live in your love. through Christ our Lord.

Archbishop Oscar Romero was beatified May 23. Each one of you has to be God’s microphone. Each one of you has to be a mes-senger, a prophet. The church will always exist as long as there is someone who

has been baptized…Where is your baptism? You are baptized in your profes-sions, in the fields of workers, in the market. Wherever there is someone who has

been baptized, that is where the church is. There is a prophet there. Let us not hide the talent that God gave us on the day of our baptism and let us truly live

the beauty and responsibility of being a prophetic people. This is what we are about:

We plant the seeds that one day will grow. We water seeds already plant-ed, knowing that they hold future promise.

Reflect on the Feast of Pentecost ∗ What are your talents? Listening, cooking, praying,

laughing, serving, etc. Whatever it is, use it to make others' lives better this week. That is evangelization! ∗ Take a deep breath, hold it for a few seconds, let it

fill up your whole being, sense that breath in you and then slowly let it out. Remind yourself that this breath of God sustains you. Be grateful for life, and share that joy with others. That is evan-gelization!

∗ Help those less fortunate by sharing your time, talent or money. That is evangelization!

∗ Make the sign of the cross when dining out. That is evangelization!

∗ Wear a cross or other symbol of your faith. That is evangelization!

∗ Offer to pray for a co-worker who has shared some personal concerns. That is evangelization!

Reflection: (reflection by Sr. Louise Alff, OSF)

There is a story about Jesus returning to heav-en after the Ascension. As the angels gathered around, overjoyed at seeing him again, they were deeply moved by his scarred hands and feet. They asked Jesus: "Do all of the people on earth now know of your unconditional love for them?" "No", said Jesus, "not everyone. But I have asked my disciples to tell others, and they in turn will tell others and eventually everyone will know of God's great love for them." Re-alizing what fickle people those "earthlings" were, the angels anxiously asked: "But what if they don't tell each other? What if they forget? What if they just keep the good news to themselves? Surely, you have anoth-er plan?" "No", said Jesus "that is my only plan. I'm counting on them." Two thousand years later, Jesus still has no other plan and is counting on us. You and I are to share our faith like the believers of the early Church. In today's gospel Jesus breathed on the apostles and sent them out. That same Holy Spirit was breathed on us at Baptism and Confirmation. Today is the birthday of the Church and feast day of all Christians, for it marks the day we were em-powered to share our faith to be an evANGELizer. The word ANGEL is in this word. An angel is a messenger from God. God's message is one of peace, justice, dig-nity, truth, forgiveness, understanding and love. Any time you bring a face to those words you are evANGE-Lizing. How are others to know of God's love? For you and me to share the message. This is Jesus' plan, He has no other. So we ask ourselves: • Do we seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit, first

received at Baptism & strengthened at Confirma-tion, to evangelize others in both word & action?

• Do we celebrate our faith by spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
