Philippians 4:13 THANK YOU TO OUR HUB SCHOOLS Today is the final day of our hub work with Welland Primary, Hanley Swan St Gabriels with St Marys CofE Primary and Hanley Swan Pre-School. From Monday 1st June, we will only be serving children from Upton- upon-Severn CofE Primary School and the Riverboats Children Centre. I would like to thank the other schools’ staff and communities for being an excellent addition to our team during this unprecented crisis. It has been most enjoyable having the other schools working with us and delightful to meet the different children from the various settings. We do work closely with these other schools who are a part of the Hanley and Upton Educational Trust (HUET) and we would like to extend our thanks to Mrs Cooke the Head at Hanley High Sch. SCHOOL RE-OPENING Hopefully, yesterday you will all have received communications about our most up to date plan on how we intend to re-open school, under the Government’s guidance, on 1st June 2020. We understand that deciding whether to send your child back to school is difficult for many families and we will endeavour to do all we can to support you. The planning process is still underway but please be reassured the Governors of the school are working very closely with us to make the school environment as safe as possible for an extended group. We have been open since 23rd March for all those children who were covered under the government guidance and school has been running with an extensive risk assessment in place which you can view on our website. We would like to request that you respond to the google form by 9.00am on Tuesday morning in order for us to process the applications and to ensure we can accommodate your children safely. We will then inform you if we can offer your child a place. Schools will continue to priortitise children in the categories set by the Government and if we are over subscribed we will be unable to take all the children back into school on June 1 st . We will inform you of the outcome by the end of the school day, 3.00pm. Please do not feel in any way pressurised to send your children back to school. We will support the online learning platforms through to the end of the summer term and this will be run in conjucnction with the in school work offering continuity for all our pupils. The autumn term’s theme is courage and we will look forward to embracing the next academic year with positivity and hope. YOUNG VOICES - AT HOME Young Voices are organising a huge online concert to perform 'Power In Me' on Tuesday 2nd June at 2.30pm. It would be great to have lots of Upton children joining in as we already sing the song so well and there is a tutorial and the words on their website to help. If you would like to be involved, please sign up by following the instructions on the link so you can join in from home. Happy singing! https://www.youngvoices.co.uk/powerinme ONLINE PROVISION As we enter the half term break, our online provision on Tapestry and SeeSaw will recommence on Monday 1st June. We have some exciting activities lined up and look forward to sharing these with you next term. SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD AT UPTON HUB During Tuesday at the hub the children made towers from marshmallows and spaghetti to make their eighth wonder of the world! A true growth mindset activity which required perserverance and determination to succeed. Some of the pictures below demonstrate some of the great work that was produced. On Wednesday afternoon the children attempted to recreate the Seven Wonders of the World using natural objects. We had Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Chichen Itza in Mexico and Stonehenge. Some children also tried to make the Great Wall of China. The children worked hard on their creations and were very proud of them.

WORCESTERSHIRE VIRTUAL SCHOOL GAMES ACTIVITY VILLAGE On Monday 1st June the Worcestershire Virtual School Games Activity Village opens to all schools across Worcestershire and they would like to personally invite as many schools as possible from the Worcestershire West area to take part in this event.

This is a great opportunity to give all pupils a taste of competition and an opportunity to represent their school in the process and feel part of a school team. All participants will receive an e-certificate, and there will be prizes for the primary and secondary school with the highest number of entries. The Activity Village will be open for 4 weeks and will consist of a variety of virtual challenges. See below for competition schedule:

These virtual events will culminate in the Worcestershire Virtual School Games Week taking place between Monday 6th to Friday 10th July, during which results will be announced and highlights shared.

Details of all challenges are available to download via: www.activehw.co.uk/worcestershire-school-games.
