SAFETY POLICIESAVA classes and workshops are open to individuals of all ages and abilities. Special needs will be accommodated as reasonably as possible to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and instructors. AVA reserves the right to refuse use of its studio facilities to any person due to safety concerns.

Closed-toe, all leather boots/shoes and all-natural-fiber clothing are required for all Sculptural Studies Classes.

CANCELLATIONSIf a participant cancels 10 business days or more before the first class, full tuition, less a $25 registration fee, will be refunded in the form of a check or as a credit towards another AVA class within one year of date of issue. There is no refund if a cancellation is made within 10 business days of the class. AVA cancels classes due to bad weather in tandem with the SAU 88 Lebanon School District and reserves the right to cancel a class at anytime.

WOODWORKING Woodworking I: Joinery with Hand Tools dudley whitney

Learn how to square up rough boards and lay out and cut a variety of wood joints including lap joints and bridle joints, mortises and tenons, and dovetails. Participants are encouraged to bring their own hand tools but we will have what is needed to complete a towel rack with the skills we learn.

Woodworking II: Woodworking Machinesdudley whitney

Machines such as jointers and planers, table saws and drill presses, bandsaws and routers enable woodworkers — novices and professionals alike — to cut and fit wood parts together to make furniture, sculpture, and other useful items efficiently. We will discuss and demonstrate the safe and proper use of the power tools available. All participants will then use these tools to turn a rough length of pine lumber into a handsome and functional two-step stool ready for finishing.
