We met the association’s president, Guglielmo Miani, who stated that he was highly satisfied with this second edition of the MonteNapoleone Yacht Club: «We mustn’t forget that Milan is considered Italy’s most nautical city in terms of the number and quality of ship-owners and enthusiasts. We also have some of the world’s most important design studios here. The event wants to grow and support the city’s great passion. MonteNapoleone Yacht Club is a tribute to the world of the sea and the Italian nautical industry which plays such a leading role». Moreover, for the entire period of the event the cloisters of Palazzo Borromeo d’Adda hosted the Yachts&Gentlemen exhibition illustrating the creation of the great yachts, the dreams of their owners and the ideas of the designers that

contributed to making them unique. Each story is the result of a profound passion for the sea that could become the inspiration for reclaiming those strong, authentic values that mark the relationship between man and the element of nature. From Artistotle Onassis to Gianni Agnelli, S.A. Kar m Aga Khan and Larry Ellison, the challenge and attraction for the sea have led to the creation of unique boats, presented to the public in a series of splendid images. Photographs, designs and memories look back over the last few decades of yachting, highlighting the entrepreneurial, craft and engineering abilities that are at the foundation of a leading Italian and international industry. Mr Miani continued: «This initiative is inspired by the desire to give more space to the world of the sea, which is often close to the world of luxury and excellence, not only in Italy but also in countries such as France and Switzerland, inhabited by the brands that have chosen our area for their boutiques. Luxury brands often have close ties to the world of the sea, both in terms of their products and lifestyle. It was natural therefore, right from the first edition held during Expo 2015, to strengthen this bond, and we saw the number of brands participating double». Yachting represents exclusivity, which often goes hand in hand with luxury, where the term luxury is more than just a word, but a genuine sociological concept; it is not just a profession, a savoir faire native to certain car manufacturers, yacht designers or fashion accessories, but a different and global way of understanding clients, managing the brand and the business. �� THIS YACHT REFLECTS A TYPE OF EXISTENCE AND A WAY OF EXPERIENCING THE SEA, one that aims for a calmer kind of sailing, one that brings all the emotions of a maritime voyage and adventures at sea – and in the most remote and fascinating places on the planet. But it doesn’t neglect style and comfort while still fully respecting the environment. With a powerful look made up of harmonious lines and a sophisticated style, the 83 metre Vsy radiates strong personality and conveys solidity, safety and maximum comfort. At the cruising speed of 12 knots, the range is of 6500 nautical miles, the top speed is of 18.5 knots. Espen Oeino designed the external lines, Laurent Giles designed the naval architecture and Vsy was responsible for the engineering. The ship is 83 meters long overall, 15.60 meters wide with a Gross tonnage of 2650 tonnes. The hull is made of steel and coloured in charcoal grey to enhance the power of the project. The interior layout is developed on stagger decks to have more volumes and floor to ceiling windows, creating very large and bright open spaces for a greater fluidity of movement and visual continuity between the inside and outside. The helideck is HCA/MCA certified for the Agusta Westland 169 and can handle both daytime and night-time take-off, landing and parking using both side landing and Royal Navy type landing. That is an extra which in this case becomes a strategic advantage because of the way this yacht is set up to sail in the most hidden and far-flung places on the planet. The Vsy83 makes the most of all existing engine, anti-pollution, sewage treatment and disposal technology, which are an integral part of the Italian shipyard’s wider sustainability strategy. Direct, close contact with nature and the environment, which very much reflect the approach of an explorer, is ensured by the imposing beach area in the stern, with a 180-square metre surface in close contact with the sea, and the abundance of open-air areas, a full 979 square metres, which are embellished by a spa on the sun deck and by a large open-air swimming pool to the stern on the main deck. The two large tenders (35 footers), one of them limo-style and the other open, are housed in a customised hangar forward of the beach club, which means that further space at the stern is freed up for the many different activities available to the owners and their guests. On board there are all the strong points that mark out a service of absolute excellence, from sound reduction to labour-saving automation and the most advanced entertainment systems – available in every cabin – from the gym to the wellness area, with a hamam, steam sauna and massage room, and continuing right up to the sophisticated Kongsberg integrated navigation, communications and automation control system. The ship meets the top Lloyd’s environmental certification standards and is graded Ice Class 1D, giving it access even to protected marine areas. B

L’helideck è certificato Hca/Mca per velivoli Agusta Westland 169 e consente operazioni sia diurne che notturne di decollo, so-sta e atterraggio sia Side Landing che Royal Navy type Landing. Un plus che in questo caso diventa strategico per la vocazione di questo yacht a na-vigare nei posti più nascosti e reconditi del globo.Il Vsy83 capitalizza tutte le tecnologie già svilup-pate in termini di motorizzazione, emissioni in-quinanti, trattamento e smaltimento delle acque reflue, che sono parte integrante della più am-pia strategia di sostenibilità del cantiere italiano. Il rapporto diretto e più vicino con la natura e l’am-biente, proprio della filosofia explorer, è assicurato dall’abbondanza di ambienti open air, ben 979 metri quadrati, arricchiti da una spa sul ponte sole e da una grande piscina a cielo aperto sul ponte principale a poppa. I due grandi tender da 35 piedi, un limo e un open, sono alloggiati in un apposito garage a pruavia del beach club, libe-rando ulteriore spazio a poppa a tutto vantaggio delle molteplici attività a disposizione di armatore e ospiti. A bordo sono presenti tutti i punti di forza che qualificano un servizio di eccellenza assolu-to, dal comfort acustico alle soluzioni domotiche e ai sistemi di entertainment più all’avanguardia, accessibili da ogni cabina, dalla palestra e dall’a-rea wellness, con hammam, sauna a vapore e sala massaggi fino al sofisticato sistema di con-trollo Kongsberg per la gestione integrata della strumentazione di navigazione, comunicazione e automazione. La nave rispetta i massimi standard delle certificazioni Lloyd’s ambientali e Ice Class 1D, tanto da consentire l’accesso anche nelle aree marine protette.
