Intermodal chassis: When a container is taken off of the train, it is placed on a chassis, which is used to move it on the street. It usually stays on that chassis until it returns to the rail ramp with another load. Schneider National is responsible for returning the chassis to the same ramp from

which it came, or an acceptable near-by ramp.
