1. Guests from Italy
We have four guests in this place. They came here a week ago. They are
Fabio, Francesca, Elia and Chiara.
Fabio and Elia came to this place the first time five years ago. They are
our close friends and very hard workers. Elia is an architect and Fabio is
a mechanical engineer. The first time they came they built the stair case
of the pond. The second time they built a nice house where the Munda
girls can have a safe shelter.
This time they are also doing a lot of work for us.
They have repaired the electric line in the old building and have put a
roof on one of the new buildings.

This time two young ladies have come with them: their names are Chiara
and Francesca. Fabio in engaged with Chiara and Elia with Francesca.
They will get married sooner or later. Chiara and Francesca have been
painting the walls of the new building during the day. In the morning
they teach English to the small girls and in the evening to the college
girls. They also teach Italian to the three girls who are supposed to go to
Italy in September.
We thank them for everything and we are very grateful to them .
They will remain in our mind forever.

2. Natural Calamities
Bangladesh is a land of natural calamities. Every year Bangladesh is
affected by some kind of natural calamities such as: floods, storms,
draught, cyclones etc. The common natural ca lamity during the rainy
season is flood. This year we have had plenty of rain and fields are full
of water. Several times farmers have been sowing rice seeds in the fields
but too much rain has spoil them. So this year the farmers in the
southern part of Bangladesh may not be able to grow what they need to
feed their families.

3. Health Insurance
You may know that our co-operative (SAMMSS) has a health insurance
scheme. Minoti Munda looks after this scheme. 90 members of
SAMMSS are also members of this scheme. They deposit 20 taka in the
health insurance scheme every month. Sick mothers and children are
entitled to get help for medical purposes under this scheme.
A few days ago we gave 3500 taka (three thousand and five hundred
taka) to a sick woman to meet her medical expenses. Her name is Sabula
Munda.

4.Three Munda girls going to Italy
Next September three Munda girls (two already married and one still
unmarried) are supposed to attend a meeting on micro credit at the
EXPO in Milan.
The three lucky young ladies are:
Ms Nilima Munda, the directress of SAMMSS
Ms Sahionti Munda, the field worker
Miss Chompa Munda, the cashier
They will return to Bangladesh at the end of September.
We wish them all the best during their staying in that foreign country so
different from ours.
And we’ll be waiting for their return to hear about their experience of
another world and another culture.
