The Sports Science & Fitness Foundation Certification Course (SFF) aims at building the basic knowledge in both
sports science and fundamental fitness. Through various scientific theories and applications, students are equipped to
have a solid foundation for other advanced training such as personal fitness training, fit-ball, yoga, Pilates, sports injury
management and sports massage etc.
1) Understand the concept of Fitness and its components2) Understand the functions of connective tissues, the name and function of bones and joints3) Be familiar with the origin, insertion, action and relative training methods of common skeletal muscle.4)
Students are able to analyze training movement including the target muscles, joint movements, relevant stabilizersand type of contraction.
5) Understand the adaptations and changes to body system such as cardiovascular, musculoskeletal and nervoussystem after aerobics and resistance training.
6) Understand the functions and sources of macro and micro nutrients.
Sports Science & Fitness Foundation Certification Course Teaching Mode
(Teaching & Exam 19.5 hours, 5.5 hours self directed learning , total 25 hours) Theory Practical Case Studies Demo
Pre course Self Directed Learning (3.5 hours)Study guide will be issued from academy for better preparation and learning
before and during the class. For the above 5 sections, each section is
recommended to spend about 45 minutes for pre-reading.
Fitness Theories and Industry Updates (3 hours) SFF01
This section covers four major health related fitness components and six
motor-skill related fitness components. Students will also learn the calculation of
target training heart rate and the introduction on different stretching and muscle
fitness.
Functional Anatomy for fitness instructors (3 hours) SFF02This section covers following items: anatomical planes and position, elaboration
on the function and structure of 6 types of connective tissues such as ligaments,
tendon and cartilages. Joints classifications and functions, skeletal muscles
locations, action and relative training methods are involved as well.
Exercise Physiology for fitness instructors (3 hours) SFF03
The covered contents in this section are specific to several exercise related body
system including: cardiovascular, respiratory, energy and nervous systems.
Students will understand the effect on these different body systems during and
after aerobics and resistance training.
Biomechanics and Analysis of Human Movement (3 hours)SFF05

Exercises related biomechanics such as the basic concept on forces and lever
systems are presented so as to depict that difficulties of some exercises can be
adjusted by applying these concepts. Besides, the terminology of different
human movements, type of muscle contractions and the role of muscles will all
be discussed and after all, movement analysis on some common training will be
demonstrated.
Exercise Nutrition for fitness instructors (3 hours) SFF04
Macro-nutrients such as Fat, Carbohydrates, Protein, Alcohol and Fibre and
Micro-nutrients such as Minerals and Vitamins will be explained and elaborated
in details. Students will have a thorough understanding on the function and
source of all these nutrients.
