Students may take Accelerated Reader (AR) quizzes during their assigned lunch period or after school, Monday - Thursday.

Please do not send students to the library to take makeup tests!

Please do not send students to the library without consulting with the librarian (exception: printing).

Students are required to provide a written note from their teacher relating to the purpose of their visit during instructional time.

Remind students to leave the library neat, picking up their possessions and pushing in chairs.

New Books are found at the front of the library. New items are searchable in the library catalog!

Please offer curricula based collection suggestions!

Please be mindful of library closures. The library is open access. The Librarians may close the library at their discretion for testing and special programs, meetings and library days (signage will be posted).

Lamination requests will be fulfilled before student lunch periods. Requests brought to the library after lunch will be fulfilled the next day before lunch.

Classes and school programs are constantly being conducted in the library.

Confer with a Librarian prior to reserving the library or laptops.

IHS Librarians value the privacy of student library records, the freedom to read, and will follow district regulations concerning challenged items.

Request information of educational relevance to your classes only.

The library does Not allow students in before 6:50am. Students may not use the library telephone. Students are responsible for paying replacement fees

for IDs. They are Not free! Students should write their names in textbooks (IDEA:

Spot check for names and offer extra credit). Circulating items that leave the library collection must

be checked out prior to exit (equipment also). The library does not let students “borrow” textbooks. Need pleasure reading books for your classroom

collection??? We have many books to give out!

Please do Not use the Library Circulation Desk or Library office computers without permission.

Only under special circumstances will teachers be allowed to use the telephone.

The Librarian office will not be used for student conferences or meetings.

Student jump drives must not be used on staff computers.

IHS Librarians discourage censorship, yet will abide by District school library policies and decisions concerning ideas considered objectionable, harmful or sensitive to students.

Please leave equipment set up & plugged. Submit problems in writing as soon as possible

(equipment may still be under warranty & can be replaced).

Technology Request forms are in the library. Please do not remove equipment from the room in

which it is currently located. Property Control is very important. Be careful with using shared drives. Do not loan out laptops reserved for you. You are

responsible for computers reserved for your classes. Please do not leave laptops unattended!

Suggestion: Pile book sacks in a safe area when using laptops.

Please do Not allow students to carry more than 3 laptops at a time.

Please do not leave laptops in your classroom at the end of the day (or lock in classroom)!

Allow time for students to shut laptops down properly at the end of your classes.

Leave a sticky note with teacher comments on problem laptop(s) when sending down with students.

Report students that create screensavers or post pictures on school computer property! Result: computers are made inaccessible to other classes while being serviced to clear images.

The Internet policy will be enforced by librarians.

Database instruction will be scheduled as requested! An email confirmation/reminder will be sent to you.

It is important that students are using reliable resources (WorldBook, Gale, etc.).

Please talk to us about your purpose for bringing students to the Library Media Center.

We want to Collaborate with YOU! We will assist students with finding information. Every school’s Internet use is monitored.

Computer filters are installed to block objectionable sites.

When assigning a report, we encourage teachers to require citations.

Librarians offer Bibliometric instruction for research papers. Please collaborate with us and communication their citation needs.

We will assist students in locating relevant, timely and authoritative information sources for their research.

MLA, APA, Chicago/Turabian citation resources are available for students to refer to. These reference books do not circulate.
