• 1880: Kentucky General Assembly established a Normal School for the training of teachers at the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Kentucky

• 1908: Department of Education established, replacing the Normal School• 1909: Named changed to the Teachers’ College• 1911: A School of Education created in the College of Arts and Sciences• 1923: The College of Education created with a four-year course of study• 1924: First bachelor’s degree awarded• 1930: The College of Education Building (later renamed the William S. Taylor

What is the Kentucky P20 Innovation Lab?

Kentucky Focuses squarely on education issues in the Commonwealth

P20 Targets learning at the pre-school through graduate education levels and into the workforce

Innovation Generates next-generation ideas and finds ways to successfully apply them in practice. This way of thinking transforms the UK College of Education’s teaching, research, and service into learning, innovation, and engagement.
