ROBERTS, TELESFORD PLAY FOR TRINIDAD TOBAGO NATIONAL TEAM

Former Liberty University men’s soccer standouts Darryl Roberts and Osei Telesford are currently mem-bers of the the 18-man Trinidad and Tobago Nati onal team. The two have seen acti on in several internati onal matches for their nati ve country, including the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup, 2007 Digicel Caribean Cup, CONCACAF Qualifying and friendlies against Jamaica, Costa Rica, Panama and England. This past June, the former Flames both played key roles in helping the Trinidad and Tobago nati onal squad advance to the next round of qualifying for the CONCACAF Finals, including Roberts’ game-winning goal in June 22nd’s 2-0 victory over Bermuda. With the victory, the pair of Liberty standouts, along with their fellow countrymen, advanced to Round Three of qualifying for the CONCACAF Final Round. Trinidad and Tobago will meet the United States, Gua-temala and Cuba in three round-robin matches dur-ing the months of August through November. Roberts, who is Liberty’s all-ti me leading scorer, played for the Flames from 2002-06. The forward has represented the Trindad & Tobago Nati onal team in 16 matches. He earned Freshman All-American hon-ors with the Flames in 2003 and currently, plays with Denizlispor Football Club in the Turkish First Division. Telesford was a four-ti me all-conference selecti on for the Flames from 2003-06. The defender has rep-resented his nati ve land in 10 contests. Telesford also earned fi rst team all-region honors twice with Liberty and is curently playing professionally.
