Kenny Taylor, a long time resident of Hagerman with his wife, has been in-volved in working the concession stand during high school games, mentoring for the 4-H Club, and being active members of Hagerman Christian Center.
This winter Kenny was diagnosed with cancer, and with that come many costs. We invite the community to join this event to give back to one of our own.

From the Desk of Hagerman Mayor Pete WeirFrom the Desk of Hagerman Mayor Pete WeirFrom the Desk of Hagerman Mayor Pete WeirFrom the Desk of Hagerman Mayor Pete Weir It’s that time of year again, we need to ensure our yearly compliance with the Backflow Ordinance. For all residents that have automatic sprinkler systems, we must have a certified technician to evaluate all backflow devices for leaks, and submit to City Hall, a report of the inspections. We have a list of certified specialists available at City Hall. If you chose to use someone not on the list, they must bring in a copy of their certification to City Hall. The cut off date for compliance to this Ordi-nance will be June 1, 2019. Any resident or property owner that does not comply will be assessed for a fine.
We are glad to report that we are approximately half-way through our road repairs. Weather permitting, we should be done by the end of February.
In light of all of the requirements for our new sewer system, we hired a specialist to double check our projected rates, and the needed rate increases that we should expect to affect our community. Based on those reports we have calculated the first rate increase to the sewer rates will be from $47.55 to $56.20 residential, and from $56.82 to $112.40 for com-mercial. These rates will remain in effect for 3 years. The 4th year will see another increase of a mere 2%, at $57.33 for residential and $114.65 for commercial. By the 5th year the new rates are projected to be $58.47 for residential, and $116.94 for commercial sewer services.
We would like to welcome Curtis Jackson as a new member of our Planning & Zoning com-mittee. The Planning & Zoning committee meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7pm. Come join us and find out what’s new in our Community.
We are still proceeding forward on unlicensed vehicles on proper ties, the right-of-way, or streets. Pursuant to City Code Motor vehicles and traffic, title 6. If you are a member of our community who has an unlicensed vehicle on their property, and have not already received a visit or letter related to such, from the City, please anticipate one. If you have any ques-tions regard this or any other code of our city, you are more than welcome to come into City Hall, or you can find that information on the website www.sterlingcodifiers.com/hagerman.id. We have a beautiful community in which we should all take pride in, let’s keep Hagerman Beautiful!

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN QUILTING,
SEWING, LEARNING TO DO EITHER OR
JUST SOCIALIZE WITH OTHERS WHO DO?
We are forming a group to do just that. Last year a group of ladies worked together to make a raffle quilt as a fundraiser for the Hagerman Library. It was very successful, and the quilt is hanging in the Library. We will be drawing for the winner of the quilt on May 11th, 2019 at our annual Luncheon
and Fashion show which will be held at the Hagerman Senior Center.
We are considering making another quilt to raffle at the Luncheon and Fashion Show for 2020. We had such FUN getting together on Tuesdays at 1:30 pm to work on it, that I have been asked to get a group together to possibly make another quilt or to just share our interests in sewing, quilting, or just share what we have done (Show & Tell). If you do not sew our quilt, but are interested in learning, or teaching a skill this would be the time to do it. If you are tired of winter and want to just social-ize, you can do that too. We will have an organizational meeting at the Hagerman Library on Monday, February 18th at 1:00 p.m. Please plan to attend. If you cannot attend, but are interested and want more information, please feel free to call me, Pat Winther at (208-837-6498) or text (208-539-6499) or email me at: [email protected]. Otherwise, please plan to attend, have a good time, and the goal is just to have FUN!
