A reminder though that ‘hoodies’ are not part of our school uniform list. Wearing them to and from school to keep students dry and warm is perfectly ok but students are not able to wear a ‘hoodie jumper’ during school hours. Seeing all our students wearing the new polo shirt has been wonderful and the new bright design and material has really added to our school image. A big thank you to parents for preparing and organising your child each morning ready for a day of learning. As a parent myself I am well aware of the morning trials and tribulations that families go through to get their children ready each day. Thank you parents! Our swimming lessons for our Pre-primary to Year 2 students is well under way and I can report that almost 95% of our students are attending the lessons. I have been able to jump on the bus with the students and teachers and I have been very impressed with how organised and prepared each student is. There are also lots of happy smiles, laughter and joy at being able to go to the swimming lessons as well. Any parent who has attended the pool to watch the lessons can attest to how ‘warm’ it is inside. A huge thank you to Mrs Tregenza and Mr Staples for the organisation and coordination of the lessons and for Mrs Callaghan’s admin office team who collated all the lesson sheets and money. Given our local proximity to river, estuary and ocean it is vital that all our students learn water safety and swimming skills. Our students continue to shine with our PBS behaviour reward system. Every Monday morning we hold a short 10 minute assembly to discuss the week’s value focus and to energize the students for the lessons for the week ahead. This week’s value focus is ‘speaking kindly to others’ and it is noticeable that the older students have been taking the leadership role in setting a great example for our younger students. Well done Year 5 and 6 classes. Keep up the great role modelling! We are aiming for a reward day for all students if we make the magical 8,000 ‘Gotcha Tickets’ that students achieve for demonstrating our Riverside Values of Respect, Responsibility and Aspire! Keep at it kids we are almost there! Lastly, I would like to thank all the parents who have been using the ‘Kiss and Drop Zone’ so efficiently. Using this zone instead of double parking on the road is so much safer for your children. It is scary to see some cars having to dodge around cars who stop in the middle of the road outside the school gates when the ‘Kiss and Drop Zone’ is open and available. Thank you parents and carers! I look forward to seeing you around the school and at assembly, and I am so glad our Covid-19 restrictions have now relaxed so our community can once again be a big part of our school. Kind regards, Peter Dunning Principal THE SNACK SHACK NEEDS YOUR HELP!! Our canteen relies on volunteers from our “Riverside Family”. If you can spare a few hours a week, The Snack Shack would love to have you on board. Your child will receive a $6.00 credit to spend at the canteen and lunch provided for yourself. If you are interested or would like more information, please see Trudi in the canteen or the ladies in the administration office.

THURSDAYS

Early Close 2.30pm

Dear Parents, Carers and Families With the recent spell of wet weather it has been noticeable that families and students are making sure they are wearing the correct school jumper and keeping warm. A reminder though that ‘hoodies’ are not part of our school uniform list. Wearing them to and from school to keep students dry and warm is perfectly ok but students are not able to wear a ‘hoodie jumper’ during school

hours.

Seeing all our students wearing the new polo shirt has been wonderful and the new bright design and material has really added to our school image. A big thank you to parents for preparing and organising your child each morning ready for a day of learning. As a parent myself I am well aware of the morning trials and tribulations that families go through to get their children

ready each day.

Given our local proximity to river, estuary and ocean it is vital that all our

students learn water safety and swimming skills.

Keep at it kids we

are almost there!

Thank you parents and

carers!

I look forward to seeing you around the school and at assembly, and I am so glad our Covid-19 restrictions have now relaxed so

our community can once again be a big part of our school.

NCCD Data Collection

The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) takes place in August every year. The NCCD is a collection that counts: the number of school students receiving an adjustment or ‘help’ due to disability and the level of adjustment they are receiving to access education on the same basis as other students. Students are counted in the NCCD if they receive ongoing adjustments at school due to disability. The NCCD uses the definition of disability in the Disability Discrimination Act 1992. Schools provide this information to education authorities. The name of the school and the name of the students is not reported. Information about the different types of needs and the programs and resources the school uses to overcome barriers and support children with special education needs is collected. This is compulsory for all schools and is detailed in the Australian Education Regulation 2013. For more information, please don’t hesitate to contact me, or visit the NCCD Portal.
