Ballet to me evokes memories of my childhood. Dress-ing up and going to the theatre. Leaning over thewall of the orchestra pit before the performance and

watching the musicians warm up. The beautiful strains

of Tchaikovsky thrilled my 7 year old soul as the cur-

tain lifted to reveal a magical world of ballet. Rec-

ognising a few steps that the ballerinas execute that

I had learnt at my Wednesday afternoon ballet lessons

and being mesmerised by the beauty of the dancers,

    costumes and staging! - Megan

How long has CTCB been going for?

    75 years

Tell us about Encore and the fresh audience

    approach?

I am very excited about what Encore is doing for

CTCB and the direction in which it is

leading the ballet company. It is so inspiring be-

ing around people who share a common passion and

work together towards the same ultimate goal.

    What is Encore?

Encore is a group of young, energetic,

    enthusiastic, passionate and glamorous profession-

als who have been brought together by their love of

ballet. They brainstorm, fundraise and network all

    in the name of Ballet!

If there was one production you could put on,

    what would it be?

We would LOVE to put on La flle mal Gardee! It

is a beautiful comical ballet in 2 acts,

literally translated it means The Guarded girl,

It is a story of a girl and a boy who want to

marry but the girls mother wants her to marry

a dimwitted but very rich man. The ballet is

charming and delightful. We have never been

able to put it on because the rights are so

    expensive.

    Why is the arts important?

The Arts are SO very important to a persons

education and well being. The arts feed our

soul! They give us beauty and light in a

progressively more unstable and dark world.

How can we book for up and coming performances?

You can book your tickets through computicket

and Dial-a-Seat. We do have a website that is

in the process of being upgraded:www.capetowncityballet.org.za

We also have a facebook group everyone can join

    for the latest CTCB news!

it is the Cape Town Fashion week, so be sure not to miss out, especiallysince you can catch up on all the latest trends hitting our shores over

    HOT panTS & BOy SHORTS

It is all about the legs. Best you get down to the gym or bikram yoga

and tone your gorgeous limbs. Yes, hot pants and boy shorts are thecall fr the seasn, plus if u can aunt it all, pt fr the even shrter-than-short pants.

Knee HigH & OVeR THe Knee SOCKS

I have never been a fan of this look, not even in school when every-one followed the trend. I do know some people who use this option

for dressing up games. So layer it over your tights and if you have a

super cl pair f scks the can add vlumes t ur utt- knckyourselves out!

    STRipeS

Stripes remind me of Wheres Wally? However, I am a fan of the nau-

tical look. So this summer is all about stripes. Dont be afraid to mix andmatch it as stripes with prints can be very daring! One look I do enjoy

is a nautical striped cotton vest, with a pair of leopard print skirt or

Right, so we are a generation obsessed with looking good and want-ing to look like the Hollywood stars meaning bright eyed and busy

tailed. To be honest, I am not the kind of person who would rush out formy botox shot or chemical peel or anything remotely to do with recon-

In modern day society it can be a tough one our daily routines are

scheduled to non-stop being out and about, meetings and social envi-ronments and godly hours we have no control over. Where am I going

Well, I have fund a new prduct, which excites me and denitel hasmy daily routine include that of spending time with myself. In fact I put

    time aside for this ritual.
