EinzelaktionenAside from the May 15 – July 9 large scale deportations – so called “individu-al actions” (Einzelaktionen) were conducted by the Germans in Hungary with co-operation by the Hungarian authorities. Large numbers (mostly Jews) were sent to the Nazi concentration ccamps. The initial transports wre handled similarly.

After halting the mass deportationsIt was increasingly obvious that Germany and its allies would soon be defeated. Independently, Horthy was pressured by Roosevelt, Churchill and others to stop the deportations. On July 6, 1944 he gave instructions to stop them.
