• We view ‘Assessment for Learning’ to be essential to our school. • Our assessment grades, where used, are criterion referenced with criteria from the IB Diploma programme. • We moderate our assessments both internally and externally as required by the IB. • We have clear criteria for the award of any effort grades. • We carry out formative assessment by a variety of methods, including testing, inspection of student workbooks/journals, evaluating practical skills, performances, display work, individual and group work, presentations.• The criteria used for assessment are understood by all teachers and students.

University recognition directory • The official IB website www.ibo.org maintains a directory of information

from universities that have notified them of their policies for recognizing the IB Diploma. There are currently 2545 universities from 75 countries in their directory, but many other universities also admit IB Diploma holders.

About university admission • The IB Diploma is widely recognized by universities around the world.

However, it is universities and not the IB that determine admissions criteria and these can vary significantly by country, university, course, and over time. Therefore, you are strongly advised to consult the university directly to ensure that you have the latest, most accurateinformation.

Frequently asked questions1. Do IBDP graduates earn transfer credits at overseas universities?• Yes. Considering the rigor and standing of the IB Diploma Programme,

universities in the US and Canada generally award transfer credits to IBDP graduates. Students who have scored very high grades (say grade 5 or above) in Higher Level IBDP courses stand a good chance of earning such university credits, resulting in saving six months to one year. However, such credits vary from university to university .

Frequently asked questions2. When do we & the universities get the grades/results?• Grades are made available by the IBO in July. Some universities offer early

“conditional acceptance” to students, however, final acceptance is sometimes given based on the receipt and approval of the final grades in July

3. Can a student change his subjects or levels from HL to SL or visa versa?• No changes will be allowed after the middle of September in Grade 11,

otherwise a student would be disadvantaged.4. What happens during the summer break between Grade 11 & 12?• Students will have to keep in mind that a fair amount of review is

necessary during their summer months so that concepts stay fresh in their minds. It is important to remember that exams in May of Grade 12 are based on TWO years of study and NOT only ONE. They should also be doing further research on their Extended Essays as the first draft is due immediately after school resumes, and completing any course work required by individual subjects
