When to Apply

Students must apply during their last year in high school (after December 1 and prior to graduation) or forfeit all future eligibility for a Bright Futures Scholarship.

There are three different award levels:

Florida Academic Scholar (FAS)Florida Medallion Scholar (FMS)Gold Seal Vocational Scholar (GSV)

In addition to general eligibility requirements, each award level has different benchmarks to attain the scholarship:

Initial EligibilityAcademicsGrade Point AverageCommunity Service HoursTest Scores (SAT/ACT)

Each of these benchmarks and requirements are subject to change on an annual basis as determined by the Florida Legislature. Effective July 1, our website will feature the most recent changes in place.

Application Follow Up

Visit www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org and select State Grants, Scholarships & Applications. Then select “Apply Here” located on the top toolbar.

After submitting an Initial Student Florida Financial Aid Application online, you will:

• Create a PIN (Personal Identification Number) online,

• Update demographic information (on your original application), as necessary, and

• Monitor your Financial Aid Recipient History (award status) online.

Visit www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org and select StateGrants, Scholarships & Applications.

From the menu bar choose Application Status & Award History, then under Applicant Quick Links, select View Student Financial Aid History.

Log in using your User ID and PIN, or go to Get My User ID and PIN to access information on the status of your award.

How to Apply Your Responsibilities

It is your job to know and meet the requirements of the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program before high school graduation and throughout your college career.

Requirements are subject to change with each Florida Legislative session.

Check your application and award status on a regular basis.

Make sure that your name, address, date of birth, Social Security Number, and any other changes are kept up to date on your application.

Keep your “school of choice” selection updated. This is where your Bright Futures Scholarship award money will be sent.
