Dear friends,

It is with great pride that we present to you the Young Israel of Teaneck Program Guide for 5780. As our community has grown in numbers over the years, we are proud that our programming has as well. We have gathered all of our programming in one place to give you a sense of all that is taking place on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis at the Young Israel of Teaneck.

At YIOT, it is our goal to provide meaningful opportunities for spiritual and personal growth for all of our members: children, teens, and adults. And because we have a diverse membership, our goal is always to provide a wide array of programming that speaks to the passions and interests of all our members.

All of the programs you see in this brochure are run by individuals or committees, all of which are lay-led, and we want to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have invested their time and energy to make these programs come to life. It is all of you who make YIOT the warm, vibrant, growth-oriented community we all love.

We look forward to an amazing 5780, which we hope will be a year of growth and success together as a community.

B’vracha,

BNEI AKIVABnei Akiva shlichim, Rabbi Yosef & Rachel Fisch, together with their four children, have joined our community for two years. Rabbi Yosef and Rachel have both worked in education for many years and are enthusiastic to bring programs as well as to connect with our teens and youth, and become a part of the fabric of our community. Both Rabbi Yosef and Rachel have extensive backgrounds in Jewish Education. Rabbi Yosef served as a Rabbi in Tzahal and a Rebbe at pre-military Yeshiva in Israel, and Rachel has taught children in elementary school through high school. They have both worked for Ezra and Bnei Akiva for many years and enjoy working with children in both the formal and informal setting. Their creative and dynamic programming ideas and Israeli spirit will continue to bring more energy and excitement into our community.

THE BURTON Z”L & SHARON KAPLAN PARENT-CHILD LEARNING PROGRAMThe Burton z”l and Sharon Kaplan Parent-Child Learning Program, endowed by Judah and Carolyn Kaplan and family, and Elijah and Yoni Kaplan and family, is a fun program designed to instill in our children a love of learning and an appreciation for the joy of Torah and Yiddishkeit. It is named for Judah and Elijah’s parents, who took it upon themselves to increase their own Torah knowledge every day, inspired and continue to inspire their children and grandchildren, as well as many other kids of all ages to do the same, and were and remain active supporters of multiple Jewish day schools in their community.
