School Uniform• Please refer to the school uniform policy on the
school website.
Additional reminders: • Hair should be tied back using a scrunchie, hair band, clip or ribbon that is black,
brown or green.
• Hair gel should not be used style hair.
• Minimal jewellery should be worn for practical, health and safety reasons.
• A wristwatch and/or single stud earring in each ear lobe are permitted.
• All jewellery should be removed for PE and games. If earrings cannot be removed then tape must be provided to cover earrings up.
• Please provide daps or trainers for PE as these will be needed throughout the year.
• Nail varnish and make-up are not permitted.
• No keyrings on bookbags, just one small identifying tag.
Morning Routine KS1
• Gates open at 8.30am• Pupils may go straight to their classrooms – change
books, hang up coats etc. and put away snacks and/or lunch-boxes assemble on the school playground
• Key person on outside door for messages• 8.40am registration• 8.45am lessons begin• Site will be locked at 8.55am
KS1 Reading Afternoon
• Mondays 2.30 to 2.50pm
• Opportunity for parents to share a book with children in the classroom
• Intervention programmes running at the same time in the central area (some children therefore not available for reading)
• Please leave the central area clear for focussed learning
Site Security
• Children arriving after 8.40 should go immediately to Reception to register
• All visitors should go to Reception and sign in
• Gate unlocked at 2.55pm
• Pick up point
• School gates locked at 3.30pm
• Clubs and activities meeting point is by main school gate
KS1 Snack Time
• In KS1, snacks are provided for children. However, we do not know what there will be each day and cannot guarantee that particular snacks will always be available.
• You may therefore wish to provide your child with a snack (fruit and vegetables only) which should be named. *please cut grapes and cherry tomatoes in half.*
• Please also provide your child with a bottle of water (squash is not permitted) in a named bottle each day. Children will have opportunity to access this throughout the day and refill their bottles when needed.

Eating between 12.00pm and 12.25pm
Playtime between 12.25pm and 1.00pm

House System
• This ensures a consistent approach to rewarding positive choices, encouraging a sense of pride and achievement, and fostering a community spirit
• All children, including new Foundation Stage children, are assigned a House
• House points will be awarded to children for positive behaviour, effort and attitude, quality of work and demonstrating the Rush Common Values.
• At the end of the year a House Cup will be awarded to the winning house and displayed in a central position
How you can help your child
• Listen to your child read at home
• Read stories to your child so that they know how stories work
• Practise times-tables/number facts daily
• Support with home activities e.g. spelling, topic
• Support with summer project in preparation for new academic year

• On Tuesdays and Thursdays, teachers will be available after school on the door each week between 3.00-3.10pm for parents to raise any queries/share any celebrations.

Online-Safety Tips on how to keep your child safe online
• Don't ban them from using the internet. Instead, talk to them about online-Safety early and often.
• Explore the web together; set rules and agree boundaries.
• Make sure the content they're viewing is age-appropriate.
• Make sure they know what to do if something worries or upsets them. Make sure they know how to use tools to report abuse.

Celebration Book
• Nominations are shared each Friday in assembly
• Nominations may be awarded for modelling our school values, e.g. kindness as well as high quality work, effort and extra-curricular achievements.
• Staff keep a record of which children have been nominated throughout the year to ensure that the system is fair.
• Copies of nomination slips are included in the Celebration Book in the entrance hall and a copy is
sent home with the child.
