V REUNIÓN DE LA SECCIÓN DE TRASPLANTES DE LA AEC I REUNIÓN DEL CAPÍTULO ESPAÑOL DE LA IHPBA BIENVENIDA

Queridos compañeros,

Es para mi un honor poder presentaros el programa de la XXI Reunión Nacional de la Sección de Cirugía Hepatobiliopancreática y la V Reunión de la Sección de Trasplantes de la Asociación Española de Cirujanos junto con la 1ª Reunión del Capítulo Español de la IHPBA que se celebrarán en Zaragoza los días 22, 23 y 24 de Noviembre de 2017.

La cirugía hepatobiliopancreática y los trasplantes son, probablemente, unas de las áreas de la Cirugía Digestiva donde los progresos han sido más notorios en las últimas décadas, pasando de pequeñas resecciones hepáticas a técnicas tan extremas como las resecciones masivas, el trasplante pancreático, cirugía robótica y el trasplante hepático de donante vivo o el ALPPS. Todo ello ha venido determinado no solo por el avance técnico que los cirujanos hemos desarrollado, sino por el impulso de las nuevas tecnologías, el desarrollo de nuevos agentes quimioterápicos, las cada vez más sofisticadas técnicas de radiología intervencionista y un conocimiento mucho más profundo de la fisiopatología del hígado y el páncreas, entre otros.

Nos encontramos en unas Áreas de Capacitación Específica exigentes que precisan de más años que el periodo de formación MIR para el desarrollo de competencia profesional y que es necesario tener a los médicos residentes involucrados en ella porque son ellos el motor de avance siempre. Hay un espacio importante de la reunión con ellos de protagonistas.

Es un objetivo primordial de los organizadores que todos los asistentes reciban la información más actualizada acerca del abordaje de estos pacientes y crear la inquietud que les lleve a busca soluciones mediante una rigorosa metodología científica. Además, será un encuentro entre muchísimos amigos unidos por los mismos problemas e inquietudes.

No quiero dejar de aprovechar la oportunidad de agradecer el auspicio del Hospital Universitario Miguel Servet, el Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Aragón, la Asociación Española de Cirujanos, tanto de su presidente como de los Coordinadores de las dos Secciones, HPB y Trasplante, y la International y la European and African Hepato-Pancreatic-Biliary Association.

Espero que esta reunión cumpla con todas las expectativas que el nivel del programa promete y que sea útil y fructífera para todos. Además, si disponéis de algún tiempo os recomiendo disfrutar de esta hermosa bimilenaria ciudad.

Dear Colleagues,

It is a great honor for me to present to you the program of the XXI National Meeting of HPB Division and V National Meeting of Transplant Division of Spanish Surgeons Association joint 1st Meeting of Spanish Chapter of IHPBA. This meeting will be held in Zaragoza on 22n , 23rd and 24th November 2017

Hepato-pancreatico-biliary and transplant surgery are probably ones of the gastrointenstinal surgery areas where progress has been most obvious in recent decades: There have been innovations from small liver resections to the complex techniques such as extended hepatectomies, pancreas transplantation, living donor liver transplantation or ALPPS. This has been not only due to progress in surgical technique, but rather due to the develoment of new diagnostic modalities, new chemotherapeutic agents, the increasingly more sophisticated interventional radiology techniques and the better understanding of the liver and pancreas pathophysiology, among others.

We are in demanding Specific Training Areas that require more years than the Medical Internal Resident training period for the development of the professional skillhands and that it is necessary to have resident physicians involved in it because they are the driving force for ever. They have an important space in the meeting to join us as protagonists.

We found the topics of this conference exactly in this grey area. And, in the age of sophisticated consensus conferences, we consider the format of a gathering of friends and experts best to answer these questions.

The primary goal of the organizers is that all attendees receive the most updated information about the management of these patients and develop a critical understanding that leads them to seek solutions in the future. In addition, it will be a meeting with many friends united by the same problems and concerns.

I do wish to take the opportunity to thank the auspices of the Miguel Servet University Hospital, the Aragon Health Research Foundation, the Spanish Surgeons Association, both of its president and of the two Sections Coordinators, HPB and Transplantation, the International Hepato-Pancreatic-Biliary Association and, European-African Hepato-pancreatic Biliary Association.

I hope this meeting satisfies your expectations and that the program will be useful and fruitful for all. Also, if you have some free-time I recommend to you explore our beautiful old city of Zaragoza.
