Compare with ECO2 Step8

Notice the gap between the parting face and the active face.

When dealing with changes that affect the parting faces, the following method is suggested:

• Create a new parting face (the correct parting face results from the changes) in the Diff part. You may create it only in the original Diff part (after importing it to the active part). Create a mirror to the parting face within the active part.

• Import the parting face geometry to the active parts. • Perform various operations such as, Split, Trim and so on.

We will now create a new parting face (extended face) within the Diff part. First activate the Diff part and then create a composite curve as shown in the picture below:

Page 37: Xelerate eco manager

CimatronE 8.5 Xelerate ECO Manager 33

Create an extended face using Extend:

Create a new set in the Diff part. Name it Parting Faces and then attach the new face to this set.

Page 38: Xelerate eco manager

34 Xelerate ECO Manager CimatronE 8.5

Compare with ECO2 Step9

Activate the core part. Import (Geometry) the new extend face.

Hide the Diff part and the imported face within the core.

We will now replace the old parting face with the new one, as follows:

Remove the faces (parting faces) indicated by the arrows in the picture below:

Page 39: Xelerate eco manager

CimatronE 8.5 Xelerate ECO Manager 35

Create a composite curve that will later trim the new parting face.

Compare with ECO2 Step10

Show the extended face. Trim the face with the contour as shown in the picture below:
