FROM THE COLLEGE PRINCIPALThe Wyndham Way- As we progress quickly through this term, we are continuing
to focus throughout the college; at assemblies, in Along the Grapevine (our
daily news sheet) and on our information screens across the college- on the ten
parts of the Wyndham Way. At Wyndham we take seriously our motto: Working
Together to Widen Horizons, our code of conduct and our statement of agreed
values which we call the Wyndham Way. Since this is the last Wyndham Whispers
for Term 3, I have included below the full document. It is intended that all people
within our Wyndham learning community can adopt each of the ten points and so
it applies to staff as well as students. I might add that it applies to me too as thePrincipal of the College and that I would think that you as a parent, supporter or
community member would be comfortable to adopt it.
The Wyndham Way More Than an Education
Respecting Ourselves
Taking Pride in our Appearance
Accepting Responsibility for our Actions
Participating to the Best of our Ability
Respecting the Rights and Property of Others
Caring for our EnvironmentAchieving Goals for a Better Future
Promoting a Positive Image of the College

Visual Arts HSC 2014 Breakfast ExhibitionFor yet another year I am delighted to congratulate our Visual Arts
staff and students for the wonderful exhibition of works last week.
From someone who struggles to even draw, I am always amazed at the talent of our young people.
Each year we do so very well in Art Express and I would think that this year will again see Wyndham up in
lights.
Design & Technology and Industrial TechnologyThis term we also saw the wonderful showcase and talents
of our D&T and IT students. Many thanks to all our students and staff for such a wonderful event.
Major Practical Worksour Year 12 students have recently submitted or performed the practical components
of their courses. I can say I am extremely pleased and proud of their performances and their submissions.
Every student has worked to their ability. A big thank you to our wonderful staff who have supported and
guided our students through this time.
Digital Education Revolution- Our Year 12 are currently completing the graduation process required for the
Lenovo computers. I hope our students are able to utilise this resource well. Thank you to Kumie Patherwho
has been overseeing this major job (since we no longer have a TSO).
Farewell to Shelley Woodhams and Jeff CattShelley and Jeff both will officially retire in Term 4. The college
is in the process of filling these two head teacher positions. Can I say they both have been outstanding head
teachers and supporters of Wyndham College. On behalf of the college I wish them well as they begin a new
chapter in their lives.
Farewell to Year 12 2014- As this is the last Whispers for the term, I would like to congratulate our Year 12
students prior to them leaving to undertake their HSC exams in Term 4. I am pleased to be able to say that we
had a fantastic group of students (and yes I will say more about that at the Graduation Ceremony). For now,
let me say thank you for being such a great year 12 and good luck as you undertake your HSC exams.
Karen SmithCollege Principal
FROM THE YEAR 11 DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
As we are at the end of Term 3, this also signifies the completion of Preliminary courses for Year 11 students.
The vast majority of students have applied themselves with diligence and determination to successfully
complete their courses. For all of those students, the transition to HSC courses in Term 4 will be a
straightforward and rewarding experience, and I wish them well in their endeavours.
There are, however, some students who have let things slide during the year and they are facing the prospect
of an N determination in one or more courses. This means that the requirements of the Preliminary course
have not been met and HSC study cannot be attempted in those courses.N award warning letters have already been sent to students who are in this position.
From the beginning of the HSC course, everything counts towards the final result. If students have been less
than committed in their approach to their studies, now is the time to turn that around. Completion of all
assessment tasks is vital and a determined effort must be made to complete those tasks to the best of their
ability. A number of courses have major works as an important part of overall assessment. These major works
must begin as soon as possible, so that students can demonstrate their true capabilities.
It is Wyndham College policy that students study courses to the value of twelve units. This policy provides
students with a safety net for the HSC, where the best ten units are used to calculate the ATAR. It also means
that students are fully engaged during their time at Wyndham.I wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday break, before the hard work of the HSC begins.

FROM THE LIBRARIANS DESK
The Library has been fortunate enough to have recently hosted
students working in the Library as part of the requirements of their
HSC work placement. We would like to congratulate these students on their enthusiasm and work ethic. The
library has benefited greatly from having the extra help over the last few weeks.
We are currently supporting the R U OK ? day campaign and have put together a display in the Library
encouraging students to have healthy conversations with their friends about how they are feeling. We would
like to promote the Library as a safe and stimulating environment that supports the wellbeing of our students.
Libraries are often a refuge for many students as well as being the academic heart of the school. In this age of
technology and online social networking it is more important than ever to take the time to have a conversation
that could save or change a life.

SCIENCE D Y
Wyndham celebrates NationalScience Week
Wyndham College celebrated the
National Science Week on 26thof
August. Year 11 and Year 12 students
from various science classes set up
experiments/demonstrations and
displayed them with great pride.
There were over fifteen displays
including elephants toothpaste, volcanoes, salt content in chips, can
crushing and air pressure, catapults,
stacking the cans and other mini
challenges. A large number of
students and staff members visited
the displays. Visitors enjoyed the
chocolate fossils and the dry ice
sorbet and had fun trying all the
hands on activities. The event was a
huge success and great fun for all the
students and staff.
On behalf of the Science faculty, I
thank all the participants for
giving up their lunch time and
also thank all the students and
staff who visited on the day and
helped with the organization of
the event.
