According to the change of the lifestyle of teenagers, there are some research to the increasing of the use of smartphone all over the world including Indonesia. The role of the parents and teacher are very important to control tha usage of Smartphone among teens.

Smartphone Among Teens The smartphone usage is incredibly high among teens in the world. Since the entry of the Smartphone, teenagers are getting expert in the use of mobile phones. Smartphones also have changed the lifestyle of the youth in Indonesia. Smartphone is very useful to answer the needs of communication tools, as well as some applications, such as dictionary. On the other hand smartphones also has the bad effects for Indonesian teenagers if its use is not monitored and controlled. The questions are, what are the effects of the usage of the smartphone? and Who will take the responsibilty of overseeing the usage of the smartphone? To answer these question, We must know how fast the increasing of the smartphone usage is.We may find some teens are tweeting, uploading photos, phoning and so on, when we go to some places. It is very common today that teens are using smartphone everywhere and anytime, considering in many advanced mobile phones which are cheaper. Twenty-three percent of teens mainly go online using their phones and not a desktop or laptop computer, versus 15 percent of adults, the poll by the Pew Research Center's Internet and American Life Project showed Seventy-eight percent of teens have a cell phone, and 47 percent of those have smartphones. That means that 37 percent of all teens have smartphones, up from 23 percent in 2011, Pew said. Mary Madden, a Pew researcher, stated that the smartphone figure was significant since teenagers typically set trends for Internet use, as they did with social media and texting. The figure for smartphone use rises to 44 percent for those ages 14 to 17, in line with the 45 percent figure for adults, Madden said.About three in four teenagers, or 74 percent, say they access the Internet on cell phones, tablets and other mobile devices at least occasionally. The survey showed that 93 percent of teenagers have a computer or have access to one at home. Youths living in households with lower income and less education are somewhat less likely to use the Internet, whether mobile or wired. But 30 percent of teens living in households earning less than $30,000 a year mostly access the Internet using cell phones. The percentage is higher than for teens in households earning more than $50,000. Pew surveyed 802 parents and their 802 teenagers between July 26 and September 30, 2012. The margin of error is 4.5 percentage points.Addicted to the use of smartphone has been demonstrated by Leslie Perlow, PhD, the Konosuke Matsushita professor of leadership at the Harvard Business School. In a study of 1,600 managers and professionals, found that: 70% said they check their smartphone within an hour of getting up. 56% check their phone within an hour of going to sleep. 48% check over the weekend, including on Friday and Saturday nights. 51% check continuously during vacation. 44% said they would experience "a great deal of anxiety" if they lost their phone and couldn't replace it for a week. From the demostration above we can see that the use of smartphones has been greatly improved, even they can not escape from their gadget except when they are sleeping. This is where we need to wide-awake against the excessive use of gadgets among teenagers. The more they cannot be separated from their gadgets; it will increase the adverse effects, given by their Smartphone rather than its benefit. And it also will be bad for growth of the teenagers itself.Indeed, the role of the nearest is very influential, such as parents. Parents should take the time for the children, not only the mother, but also the father. They should give understanding of the limits to the use of smart phones. Then the role of the teacher, the teacher can also help supervise the students to use Smartphone, so that it could be easier for parents to monitor their children when they are not at home.
