  • General Writing Forming Compound and Complex Sentences A complete written sentence is one that contains at least a subject (S) and a predicate-verb (V) ( ). Examples: 1 Birds sing. 2 The little boy is playing on the playground. If a sentence is made up of more than one set of S-V, usually linked by a conjunction ( ), it becomes a compound or a complex sentence.
