Best known as the “Orange City” of India, Nagpur is a major commercial, political, industrial and defence center in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

Nagpur, the second capital of Maharashtra, has a strategic central location in India. It is the largest city in Central India and the 3rd largest city in Maharashtra after Mumbai and Pune. Nagpur is also on the center of international aviation routes. Nagpur district has a population of over 2.6 million (as per the census of 2011) and it is the 9th largest urban agglomeration in India.

One of the proposed Smart Cities of Maharashtra, Nagpur is also among the largest education hubs in Maharashtra. With the development of MIHAN and NMRCL, a lot of prestigious institutions like IIM, NIPER, AIIMS, IIT, NLU are setting up a base in Nagpur. Many IT companies are also planning to set up large offices in the city and the total potential employment likely to be generated in Nagpur is in excess of 100,000 over the next few years.

Home to several important industries, Nagpur is rapidly transforming into the most preferred industrial and commercial hub in India. The MIHAN SEZ project and the Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (NMRCL) have further bolstered the economic growth of the city making it one of the most investment friendly places in India.

Nagpur city is at the cusp of a complete transformation. With the likelihood of GST being implemented in the near future Nagpur, given its central location, is likely to emerge as one of the largest logistics hub of the country.

Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (NMRCL), a joint venture company with equity participation f rom the Governments of India and Maharashtra, has been entrusted with the responsibility of constructing, operating & maintaining the Nagpur Metro project.

The Nagpur Metro Rail Project comprises of two corridors, the North-South and East-West corridors, each running a distance of ~19 km. It has 36 stations with two depots, one at Mihan and the other at Higna. Once operational, the Metro is likely to provide connectivity across the entire city.

The project envisages the concept of ‘Transit Oriented Development’ in Nagpur city and attempts to “link the place of employment to the place of living”. NMRCL thus seeks to provide the residents of Nagpur with more housing and transportation choices so they can lead affordable, convenient, and active lives.

Transit Oriented Development or TOD refers to a compact development that contains a mix of uses such as housing, jobs, shops, restaurants and entertainment, all within easy walking distance of transit stations. TOD is about creating walkable sustainable communities for people of all ages and incomes. It provides more transportation and housing choices, and benefits new and existing residents, transit agencies, local government, developers, investors and property owners.

As lifestyles change, convenience and affordability are of paramount consideration. The shifting demographics and the changing real estate market have thus opened up an unprecedented window of opportunity for transit-oriented development.

With a strategic central location, the Zero Mile is a pivotal station for the proposed Nagpur City Centre. To be developed as a centre of urban growth, the Zero Mile Station will have a shopping plaza and 20 storey tower with exquisite landscaping and sky gardens. The proposed plan also envisages a mixed use development above the station and a carefully planned Heritage Walk between the station and the Zero Mile Stone monument.

Sitaburdi Interchange is the key station in the Nagpur metro network. To be developed on a 5 acre freehold plot, the development will comprise State of Art Mixed Use Development.
