SC2 technology... ...optimum double combustion

TOTAL AIRTIGHTNESS: AN EXCEPTIONALLY LONG-LASTING FIRE

This is provided by a sealed,

welded, high-quality steel

envelope, the inside of which is

lined with cast iron or firebricks.

This technology is known as

the «double-sided» combustion

chamber. SUPRA has chosen

it for 3 reasons:

It guarantees the long-term

airtightness of the heating

body.

The cast iron or firebrick

linings are fitted ”loose“

inside the envelope and

can therefore dilate without

generating breaking stresses:

this guarantees high

reliability.

The double-sided structure

makes it possible to reach

higher flame temperatures.

The double combustion is

set off quickly. The wood

therefore burns completely,

producing less ash and

a higher energy output with

cleaner combustion.

Extra air

SUPRA INSULATED STAINLESS STEEL BAFFLE:With its reflective side and insulated lining, which stops conduction (transfer of the heat through a material), the baffle unit increases the temperature in the combustion chamber by 150°C. Very little heat is lost into the smoke flue. The heating is therefore far more efficient and the combustion of better quality.

CONVENTIONAL CAST IRON BAFFLE:Absorbs most of the heat and transfers it directly into the smoke flue.

PRECISE CONTROL OF AIR FLOWS: THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF HEAT

Quality heating requires perfect

control of the fire; as well as a

sealed heating body, perfect

distribution of the combustion

air is also required.

Up to 3 different air flows contribute

to the combustion in SUPRA SC2

wood stoves:

the primary air is distributed

through the grate, directly onto

the fuel. Its quantity can always

be adjusted to start the fire and

control the combustion speed.

the secondary air, which is

distributed by the glass front, has

a double effect: it produces a lively

fire that is a real pleasure to watch

(see § ”The pleasure of a real fire“

p. 4), and keeps the glass clean.

the tertiary air is injected into the

upper part of the heating body

and helps to maintain the double

combustion.

OPTIMUM SC2 DOUBLE COMBUSTION: ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY

Economical and ecological,

double combustion eliminates the

residues contained in the smoke

such as carbon monoxide. The

first, standard combustion 1 ,

takes place when air is injected

into the embers

through the ash grate 2 .

The second combustion 3 occurs

when additional air is drawn

in 4 , creating flames at the

hottest point. This is only

possible at a high temperature,

thanks to the high-performance

SC2 baffles. Thus, the residue

contained in the smoke is

burned off. This is an ecological

form of combustion, which is

environmentally-friendly as well

as providing optimum heating.

THE HIGH-PERFOR-MANCE SC2 SMOKE BAFFLE: FOR VERY LOW WOOD CONSUMPTION

This is an essential factor in

order to obtain good heating

performances.

It recovers the heat produced by

the combustion. Its technology

conditions the output of the stove.

SUPRA has done a great deal of

work on the shape and materials

of its baffles and has chosen

refractory stainless steel for its

qualities of thermal resistance

and lightness (no more cast iron

baffles that go out of shape under

the effect of the heat!) as well as its

ability to reflect the radiation of the

flame; the heat is thus retained in

the heart of the firebox.

The effect is reinforced by the

high-performance vermiculite

insulating lining on the baffle.
