The last day of Camp Firewood’s summer means finally experiencing “the Ultimate” (sex) for some; for others it revolves around chewing gum, goofing around and frenching. Mel Brooks’ monstrously crazy tribute to Mary Shelley’s classic pokes hilarious fun at every Frankenstein movie ever made. Summoned to his late grandfather’s castle in Transylvania, young Dr. Frankenstein (Gene Wilder) soon discovers the scientist’s step-by-step manual explaining how to bring a corpse to life.

A NEW LEAFDir. Elaine May (102min, USA, 1971)

May’s first film is a hilarious fantasy about an aging and pampered Manhattan aristocrat who discovers he has burned through his inheritance. The supercilious misanthrope, played with a mannered grace by Walter Matthau, fixes on the unlikely scheme of finding a wealthy bride (May) before he is evicted from his luxurious apartments.

Jonas, meanwhile, is driven by a secret and fleeing from his love and his future.
