Little did we realize when we sold our first

grommet nearly 30 years ago that we would

grow to become the world’s largest source for

wire access grommets and wire management

systems. Giant oak trees from little acorns,

and all that.

We gladly share the secret to this truly

accidental success story: All we did was

listen to you, and then did our best to create

new grommets and other components. We

simply responded to your needs. And being

small and very informal, we could respond

virtually instantly. It was that simple. No

rocket science necessary.

Over the years, when you said you wanted a

different size, we made it. When you said you

wanted a custom finish, we did it. When you

asked for variations, we incorporated them.

The results are remarkable!

Now, we offer 10 different sizes and 14

different finishes on round plastic grommets!

Plastic grommets led to folks asking for more

elegant grommets for more elegant desks and

tables and that led to some stunning metal

grommets, first our flush-with-desktop PS

Series and then Raised-Above-Desktop MM

Series. And that led to some fine wood

grommets and to some other interesting

shapes and styles such as grommets for trash

slots, for floors, and for electrical junction

Flip-Top™ - Cord Slot Cover Designed by: Doug Mockett.

“Why don’t you guys offer a grommet

with a removable cord slot cover ?” If

we heard that once during the 1980’s

and early ‘90’s, we heard it a zillion

times.

Result: We spent three years develop-

ing various designs, and finally settled

on a winner. It does what it is sup-

posed to do: covers the cord slot, then

opens up to access your wires.

When you’re not using the cord slot,

pivot the tab up into the closed posi-

tion. When you are using it, just pivot

the tab down, out of sight and out of

the way. It pivots past 90º, so there’s

plenty of room for wires.

We call this innovative design the

“Flip-Top”™ tab, as that describes its

pull it through. EZ! Plus, the “Clipper

This likeable beast is 6 1/2" long by

3" wide fitting into an oval slot

King Kong can also be used to line

We call it “Sherlock” because this universal

rectangular grommet can solve virtually any

wire access mystery you’ll ever be up

against. As computers and business

machines have become more complex, their

cables and plugs have become larger and

bulkier. “Sherlock Grommet” to the rescue!

The RG’s refined smooth cap features one long

“tab” along one side. Just like our round

grommet’s “Flip-Top”TM tab, this one also

swings down and out of the way when in use.

When not in use, it swings up to cover the

hole; the entire grommet and cap then looks

very civilized. Note: Plated finishes not avail-

able with Flip-TopTM cap.

The 3" long tab will accommodate

everything from ribbon cables to telephone

cords and everything in between; just lift off

the removable cap and almost any size plug

will fit through the rectangular opening.

Overall, RG is 4" x 2" and fits into a routed

slot 3 3/4" x 1 3/4". Liner and cap sold

liner, the MM3 and MM3A, proved so

Each grommet cap is made of solid

brass and is simply beautiful.

Each liner is hand-machined from

solid brass tubing.

Why brass? Unlike cheaper and

shoddier metals, brass polishes and

plates much better than steel, resulting

in a far superior finish that will make

your clients’ desks look fabulous. It is a

labor-intensive operation that requires

several steps of polishing with different

compounds followed by plating and a

final polishing. Result: A perfect finish!

FG - Series We’re pleased to bring you three sizes

of a grommet designed and made just

for floor access. They are made of

Lexan, a durable polycarbonate which is

a flame-retardant plastic that can with-

stand the office herd trampling back

and forth. Note the edge is radiused so

shoes won’t trip over it.

The double-thick grommet cover sits on

a step inside the liner for extra strength.

One portion of the cover rotates over

the other to open and close so you can

access, say, one wire, and close up the

cap to hold the wire snugly, as well as

to make sure heels do not slip into the

gap. Or, if you are accessing, say, five

wires, you can open the cover very

wide, yet still snug it up.

Wire Management

Within a year of selling our first grommets back in 1981 I got the call: “What do I do with the wires after they go through the

grommet in the desk? They just make a mess pooling on the floor underneath”.

So we started designing extruded plastic wire managers.

We pride ourselves in leading the bandwagon to bring you the latest and greatest in wire management! This category seems to

be moving from solid channels extruded from rigid PVC, that we pioneered 25 years ago, to interlinked components that can be

bent around corners as well as adjusted to any length.

These new versions create a chain of wire management that flows and goes where you want it to go, as opposed to our

standard stiff extrusions that just go one way - straight!

We’re calling them “spines” ‘cause they look like someone’s backbone! What better name to also denote how flexible they are,

how they can adjust to the shape you need.

Some “spines” are designed to work better vertically and some better horizontally, so we offer several variants.

Contest Winner for his “Clean Line”

Wire Manager, Aaron Zorndorf, has

come up with a practical solution as

well as a neat design that subtly blends

into the corner.

The Corner Raceway opens easily from

one side with a little finger grip; on

the other side is an “invisible hinge”

co-extrusion. Just open, place wires

inside, and snap closed. Each piece

WM22 - Series Designed by: Scott Hofmann

– Seattle, WA. Pragmatic and simple, Hofmann’s

design is for a wire manager to be

fastened under a desk/work surface to

keep cables up and out of the way.

Further adding to its pragmatism is

that it’s designed to work in a

horizontal plane rather than a vertical

one. Essentially, he took our WM2 and

extended a flange top and bottom for

fastening! A visible groove on the

flange top and bottom shows you

where the screws should be placed for

fastening. Good going – good new

design coming from another good

WM11 & WM11A - Flexible VELCRO® Tube Wire Manager Designed by: Peter Stathis

wire manager channels to go around

corners – They just do not bend. Peter

Stathis found this neat VeltexTM

laminated loop fabric and sewed a strip

of that VELCRO® stuff along one edge

so it sticks to the VeltexTM fabric. You

can put a lot of wires inside and close

it up, tightly or loosely, as you choose.

You can access wires anywhere you

wish along the length. And since it

comes with separate little mounting

squares of double-sided tape on one

side and VELCRO® stuff on the other,

you have a lot of flexibility in mounting

it where you want.

Two sizes in width, the smaller 4 3/4"

wide, the larger 6" wide. We sell it by

the foot, up to a maximum length of

50 ft. Two little VELCRO® mounting

squares come per foot.

WM11 is made of 100% nylon fabric

with a thick polyester foam core that

- Poughkeepsie, NY. Walls are crooked. Your work surface is

straight. Putting the work surface up

against the wall creates a problem: The

installer must scribe the work surface

to the wall, trim and fit, trim and fit,

until it’s right. Tim Ryan’s 1995 Design

Contest Winner does two things: First,

it supports the work surface away from

the wall so no need to scribe. Second,

he designed in a wire management

trough so wires can pass behind the

desk and plug in underneath.

And we offer another feature as an

option: A piece of extrusion holding a

brush running the length of the bracket

so the unit appears more integrated to

On Golden Retrievers

Over the past 30 or so years we have

had four Golden Retrievers – Alex, Buffy,

Mooch and Charlie. Each was a personali-

ty unto himself. Each was different, often

dramatically so, more than one would

think.

Golden Retrievers always have a sunny disposition, always

friendly with a wagging tail. They cannot please you enough.

Non-judgmental. They are great with kids. If a burglar

showed up a Golden would give him keys to the safe.

We got Alex shortly after Sonia and I

married in 1979. He was King

of the Roost until June

1981 when the twins

arrived and dethroned

him. But he took it in

good stead – kind of --

after a period of transition.

We enjoyed our long walks

together every day. But,

somehow in 1987 he got a

foxtail in his ear and it worked its way into his brain

and he passed away from the infection, far too

young. All four of us were devastated.

It took us two years to recover from Alex’s loss,

but we healed and got Buffy – yes, the kids

named him after his light color – and he was the gentlest,

sweetest, nicest guy, friend to all, always with a smile and a

happy tail, always glad to see you. He was with us all the

years the kids grew up. Buffy lived to 14 and became infirm

and we had to put him down. We all cried taking him to

Tom, Buffy’s long-time vet. Tom cried. A sad day.

Another year passed and we healed and got Mooch.

Another sweetheart. 18 months later we were in Mexico and

got the call that Mooch was missing; it turns out he had

been stolen from the yard. We know this because he

had an identity microchip and a tag

saying so. Every vet is to check

for a chip. Six months later, no

Mooch, so we gave up and

we rescued Charlie, 24 hours

from being put down.

Charlie

was, sim-

ply, The Best. He

knew he had a new lease (new

leash?) on life and lived it to the fullest. Street smart, an

opportunist – no food on the kitchen counter was safe – but

you could not get mad at him, and as friendly and pleasant

as could be. He greeted everyone with the same smile and

dangerously wagging tail. A lovely guy.

Out of nowhere almost three years after Mooch was stolen,

we again were in Mexico, and again got a phone call about

Mooch. Only this was the one we’d been waiting for –

Mooch had been found wandering late at night 50 miles

from where we live in LA, was picked up (no collar) and

taken the next day to a vet who scanned him and then

phoned us with the good news.

Mooch was back, and after a little territorial disagreement,

he and Charlie became best friends and always played and

clowned around together. Truly Best Friends Forever.

We had Charlie for four years until

March 2008 when he was

unfortunately run

over and killed

on a busy high-

way. Devastating …

the worst. Like

losing a member

of the family.

Mooch knows he

has lost his best friend.

He’s been depressed. When we go

at night for a run over at the golf course he looks around as

if to say, “Where’s Charlie?”

I suspect we will recover from Charlie’s sad demise, and

soon there will be a fifth Golden … Mooch needs a new

friend. Life changes, people change, and we all need new

direction in life. A new buddy for Mooch will help us all.
