A Message to Our FriendsWinston Churchill once stated:

“We make a living by what we get, we make a difference bywhat we give.”

What an appropriate and fitting quote especially in theworld of Parks & Recreation! Our department is so fortunateto have hundreds of dedicated, talented, and enthusiastic individuals who give endlessly of their time and talents tomake our programs and special events an enriching and enjoyable experience for the families of our community.

It’s no secret that when people get involved with their localparks and recreation departments, their quality of life improves. Recreation opportunities encourage citizens tobe engaged in their communities as participants, volun-teers, advocates, and educators. Recreation activities are key elements of strong, safe, and friendly communities.

The benefits of recreation are multiplied when you volun-teer to help in our parks and recreation programs. Someways you can make a difference include; volunteering tocoach your son or daughter’s youth soccer, softball or basketball team, becoming a Safety Town Teen Volunteer, participating in a clean up day at your neighborhood park, plant a memorial tree in the parks, volunteer to teach a classor seminar, assist seniors through the New Berlin Senior Citizens Club and/or the Senior Advocate Youth ExchangeService (SAYES), and much more.

Remember to take the time to thank the difference mak-ers… those coaches, instructors, leaders, and volunteerswho make your family’s leisure time experiences so excitingand memorable.

So plan on “Shaking Things Up!” Participate and/or volun-teer in parks and recreation! It’s a wonderful investmentwhen you consider the rewards that come with it!

This Winter/Spring 2011 recreation brochure offers you a va-riety of fun ways to “Shake Things Up”with exciting activi-ties for the whole family. Parks & Recreation Is Your BestInvestment!
