Letter from the Editor

HELLO ALL! We had a great turn out at the kick-off meeting in October! Thanks to all for making it out to the Trinity School/ Holy Cross Church Tour and meeting at Beans Coffee.

Although colder weather is right around the corner, this also means time for holiday fun and parties! Please join us December 1st at JW Kitchens for an exciting and fun night out.

We look forward to catching up with everyone at the holiday party and ending the year on a great note. I hope everyone has safe and happy holidays all the way into the new year.

See below for the date of NDSU 3rd year interior design student presentations. The students & faculty encourage you to see what they are up to!

A Global Solution

When: Tuesday, December 15th (1:00—3:00 pm)

Where: NDSU Campus— Specific location TBD (see the NDID website calendar for the most up to date information).

Description: NDSU 3rd Year interior design students present a sustainable design solution to act as a working prototype for a real client. Students will collaborate with the architecture and landscape architecture students and faculty and create a prototype for a home for a multigenerational family and another home for a retired couple. There will be an open house to showcase the final design solutions.

PAST EVENTS...

We had five teams participate in this years Canstruction competition that took place Saturday, October 17th at West Acres Mall. Structures were unveiled and on display after judging Sunday, October 18th through the 26th. Great work by Canstruction chairs, Kayla Cahoon & Christina Mehl, on getting this all put together! To see more pictures from the event, check out the ndid.org photos page. Also, a huge thank you to Robb Siverson Photography for the taking the great photos. The competition generated the stats below:

9,131 lbs of canned food that we were able to donate to The Great Plains Food Bank!

7,610 approximate meals which will feed a family of 4 for over 17 months!!!

2015 HOLIDAY PROJECT

NDID decided to participate in the YWCA’s Adopt-A-Family program again this year for the holiday project. We shopped for a mother and her two children, a son age 6 and a daughter age 2. We were given a list of needs, wishes & wants for each family member and divided the shopping among all 8 of the great holiday project committee members. With our $1,000 budget for the family, we were able to get clothes for the family, make-up, a gas gift card, Walmart gift card, and oil change gift card for the mother, Art supplies and action figures for the boy, and a doll with a stroller and board games/puzzles for the girl. We will be dropping the gifts off in early December so the family can enjoy these gifts.

If you have an event or charity that you would like to request a donation from NDID for, don’t forget that you have that opportunity! Just follow these simple steps:

-Log into the NDID website.

-Underneath the category “Organization” at the top, click on the “Forms” category.

-Open up the “Request for Funds” form, fill out and send to our treasurer at Dominick.Hammer@jjflooringgroup.com. It will then be brought to the next board meeting.

Endowment Fund:

As stated last year, NDID established an endowment fund through the NDSU Development Foundation to benefit NDSU Interior Design students. Through this endowment NDID will make a payment each year toward this. On top of this established endowment, NDID was able to give another donation gift to the North Dakota Interior Designers Endowment Fund. See below the thank you card we received from Margaret Fitzgerald.
