Environmental Performance Disclosures on Management Approach
We are a manufacturing organization which produces automobile components and parts. Due to heavily involved in process operations consumption of electricity, water is on our cards. We believe that investment in environment friendly solutions are means for a sustainable business sense and this would cater large demand in further years to come.
Energy management at Windals is taken up at unit level. The increasing costs of electricity are imparting heavy pressures on operating costs of the Company. We are consistently trying to improve its environmental performance in terms of manufacturing operations and products. Improving the efficiency of electricity usage across various plants is our strategic priority. Renewable energy has gained a lot of importance due to depletion of natural resources across the country. Implementing Solar Energy appliances and solar cells across the new own premises in Pune is taken as an important initiative in our organization. We have replaced the current fluorescent/CFL lighting systems with LED lighting for better illumination & less electricity consumption.
Water management has been a key focus area for us. Improving the efficiency of water usage in our paint shops is marked as one of the strategic perspective to conserve the natural resource. Usage of rain water harvesting system at our own premises is been started.
Waste generation and its disposal is serious issue of concern for manufacturing organizations. Our most of the units are zero discharge units and hence waste management issue is only restricted to Rudrapur Plant.
25
Energy & Water Regular supply of high quality electricity is critical for manufacturing operations. Energy costs are rising. Increase in energy costs impacts the cost of manufacturing that ultimately makes the final product costlier for the customers. Generation of electricity also leads to emissions that harm the environment. Therefore for us energy is important from the environment perspective, besides cost.
The electricity consumption at our all the plants stated in the scope is given below:
One of the Pune Plant also uses Natural gas for its heating operations. The consumption of Natural Gas for the reporting year is shown below:
The consumption of diesel for manufacturing operations during the reporting year was 4739.40 GJ. We recognizes that water is a finite natural resource. The total water consumed for manufacturing operations 7067 Kiloliters. We use ground water as our source of water for manufacturing operations.
