    @andivogel

    A name to describe your interests:

    @techteacher

    A name to describe the

    organization you represent:@7algebra

    Choosing a Password

    Twitter passwords must contain 6characters or more. Make your

    password something easy for you toremember, but hard for others toguess. If your account gets "hacked",meaning tweets are sent under youraccount but not by you, change your

    password immediately!

    Getting Started

    Don't be an Egg Head!

    Twitter wil assign the dreaded "egg" as yourprofile picture by default until you change it.As an educator, it is best to upload a truephoto of yourself.

    Getting People to Follow You

    7 Ways to Be Worth Following on Twitter

    1. Be Interesting...don't just tweet about whatyou had for lunch

    2. Be Informative...share links and otherresources

    3. Be Interactive...spend time on the site

    4. Be Promotional...share the good work thatyou have done

    5. Be Personal...respond to others and answerquestions

    6. Be Considerate...do not tweet TOO much

    Leander ISD recognizes that the use of Twitter has a valid place in

    today's educational environment. Employees are urged to consider thefollowing suggestions (in addition to Board and System policies) inutilizing social networking sites in the classroom.

    Guidelines and Best Practices

    Do not mix personal and schoolprofiles. Employees should only use

    their professional Twitter account tointeract with students.

    Any written text, whether in a textmeassage, an email or posted onTwitter, can easily be taken out ofcontext or misunderstood. Avoid

    inappropriate language, exaggeration,provocation and sarcasm.

    Remember that anyone canaccess the internet andview what you write on asocial network. Twitter

    DOES allow you to set yourprofile as "Private". thismeans only those youaccept as followers will beable to view your tweets;however, it does not stopyour approved Followersfrom retweeting what you

    have posted.

    Think twice before posting. Whatever gets on the internet leaves a digitalfootprint forever. If you wouldn't say something in a classroom or at aconference, consider whether you should post it online. You want yourposts to reflect positively on you and LISD for many years to come.

    Be fair and accurate. Avoidonline fights. Be respectful.Don't use social media for

    personal attacks orinflammatory arguments.
