Web Server Console

Manage Cumulus with just a web browser!The Server Console is now available via the web – including user manage-ment and Scheduler setup. This allows web browser-based Cumulus admin-istration without the need to install a native client on a local computer.Departmental user managers, for example, can now manage their users and roles more easily from anywhere with just a standard web browser.

Sites Configurator

Cumulus Sites can be configured via the user interface! No XML knowledge is required.As part of the new Web Server Con-sole Cumulus 8.6 offers a Sites config-uration editor – there’s no longer a need to edit a XML file on the server. Access to the Sites Configurator can be granted by permissions.More secure – No need to grant access to the server via SSH or Telnet.

Versioning and Automation

Versioning for File System Based Central Asset

Locations

Create file versions in a file system based central asset location!Create a new version by updating the asset!Versioning of assets is not Vault-exclusive anymore , and can be set up for every file-system-based Central Asset Location via the Server Console. Cumulus will store the asset versions in hidden folders so that users who browse the file system are not dis-tracted.In contrast to the Vault, it is possible to modify the latest version without checking out when working directly on a file system. For this reason Cumulus will store the latest version twice (one copy in a hidden folder) to ensure that the latest version will not be overwrit-ten by accident. In addition, it is possi-ble to create a new version of the file automatically on updating the record.

FileSystem Companion

Auto-Update – Update previews and metadata automatically on file modifi-cations! Auto-Versioning – Create a new ver-sion automatically on auto-updating the asset!This new add-on listens to file system events and converts these to Cumulus events. This allows Cumulus to auto-matically catalog, update or delete records based on appropriate changes in the file system. In combination with the new file system versioning the FileSystem Companion will provide automatic versioning whenever a file is modified, no matter what applica-tion was used.The FileSystem Companion is avail-able for Windows and Linux file serv-ers that provide a network share, which is used to store assets from any client platform.

FIGURE 4: The instances of the Cumulus FileSystem Companion are con-figured via the FileSystem Companion Manager of the Cumulus Server Console. This comprises the specification of the folder(s) to be watched as well as the catalog, Asset Handling Set and Permission Template to be used, certain time out values and a list of items to be ignored.

Cumulus Web Client Enhancement

FIGURE 5: A new custom-ization that shows a Google map and marks the GPS position of the current record if available in the fields Latitude and Longi-tude. The customization pro-vides static and dynamic map display as well as street view.

FIGURE 6: The tag cloud visualization for the Cat-egories shown in the Info View. The tags are linked to a category search. This makes finding similar files by popular categories easy.

FIGURE 7: The categories displayed in thumbnail and report view auto-matically link to the appropriate cate-gory search for quicker navigation.

FIGURE 8: Filters now show possible values based on the records of the current collection and no longer based on all records of the entire catalog. This helps users to find avail-able records faster and will never lead to an empty result after enabling a filter.

FIGURE 9: Web Client now offers a download button for each version in the version history dialog. This allows users to get an older version of an asset without making it the current version first.

Open natively – Use a new link in the collection link email to open the native client!This improves collaboration between internal and external Cumulus users.

FIGURE 10: The Cumulus Web Solutions installer offers different Installation Sets allowing the installation of selected components. Custom installation lets you install single features.

FIGURE 11: The new function "Send Collec-tion Link from Selection" will use the currently selected records as members of the Collection Link. Users are no longer forced to create a collection first.

FIGURE 12: On sending Collections Links (even from Cumulus Sites/Cumulus Web Cli-ent) Cumulus now generates a second URL that can be used to open the collection with the native client.




Enhanced Multi-Language Support

View Sets

One for all – A View Set now speaks multiple languages Views Sets can now be set up to use the language chosen in the View menu. Now there is no need to create a view set for each language.

Localized Categories – Control the language for Category pane as well as the one used in the Category tabs for headlines and values!

This allows creating records where no files exist at the time of import (e.g. new products), but will be added later.

Overriding Base URL Avoid conflicts with different internal and external IPs by using customized JSPX tags!
