What’s new at Feng Shui In Motion?

What to Expect: The Year Ahead Every year has a special elemental and energetic quality that allows us to look ahead at

the coming events and energy alignment. To do so, we evaluate the five basic elements

and their relationships. Everything is represented by five basic elements – water, wood,

fire, earth and metal, which as Grand Master Lo has said are the “basic components of

the Universe.”

According to the Hsia calendar, which is known as the Chinese Farmer’s Calendar, the

Year of the Fire Rooster has a Heavenly Stem of Yin Fire and an Earthly Branch of the

Rooster, which has a Yin Metal element associated with it. As Fire controls Metal, we

may again expect disharmony and changes for the year ahead.

This is the same elemental relationship of the previous Year of the Monkey, except 2016

was Yang Fire over Yang Metal. Fire controlling Metal looks like a melt-down, and over

the last 12 months, we have seen quite a bit of that all over the world. So this past year

was very serious and powerful; sometimes the momentum felt unstoppable. There were

significant, albeit unexpected, events like our domestic Presidential election result and

from other countries for example: Brexit – where the United Kingdom decided to leave

the European Union, the wide variety of conflicts in Syria, Turkey, Iran and the unconven-

tional president in the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte. Fire is related to warmth and joy and

it is also anger. So, when we were happy, we were really happy. When we were angry,

we were really angry. With another year of disharmony ahead, we can expect more chal-

lenging influences related to our political environment, economic climate, and personal

world-view. Cont’d pg. 2

Yin Fire Energy When we imagine a visual picture of Yin Fire, we think of a candle or a single flame. It is

small but it can be very powerful. Imagine a dark room with a single flame – it can illumi-

nate the entire space. A single flame is also rather sensitive. It flickers with the slightest

wind and can be extinguished easily. So, it is considered unpredictable. GM Lo has stated,

“There is a common Chinese saying that ‘A spark of fire can burn down the whole plain’.”

Yin Fire Energy from p. 1

As such, Yin Fire can be more

damaging and very explosive

so, unfortunately, we can

expect another year with con-

tinued fire-related disasters,

bombings and explosions. In

the past that has looked like

airplanes, trains and cars

(since fire melts metal) and

nuclear incidents. I expect to

also see an increase in soft-

ware hacking and cyber

crimes.

This is a good time to take

extra precaution against iden-

tity theft and consider making

passwords stronger!

Be sure to schedule your an-

nual update today!

The Chinese Hsia calendar rotates on a 60-year cycle. That means we will ex-

perience the same energy in 2017 that we saw in 1957. That year President

Eisenhower was connected to a doctrine calling for aid to the Mideast coun-

tries that resisted armed aggression from Communist-controlled nations and

The “Little Rock Nine” is the moment when an Arkansas high school was inte-

grated. The USSR tested its first guided missile and they also launched Sputnik

I and the space race began. In 1957, Operation Plumbbob was a series of nu-

clear tests conducted by the United States at the Nevada National Security

Site, formerly known as the Nevada Test Site. In October 1957, the United

Kingdom had the world’s first nuclear accident, known as the Windscale fire,

in West Cumbria. Let us hope that this year does not have any nuclear activity

with North Korea desiring to posture its own nuclear strength or accidents,

keeping in mind that the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster may still be un-

stable.

Since the Metal element is associated with the lungs and skin (from a Tradi-

tional Chinese Medicine perspective) and it is being attacked by the Fire ele-

ment this year, there is a greater chance of health issues related to breathing,

influenza and skin inflammation. With so many people traveling international-

ly, hopefully there will not be another kind of flu pandemic.

Good news for this year’s babies!

What to Expect: The Year Ahead from pg. 1

2017 is a very good year to

give birth to a child be-

cause babies born be-

tween February 3, 2017

and February 3, 2018 will

automatically possess both

Noblemen and Academic

Stars in their chart! We like

Noblemen in a chart be-

cause this will help make a

person’s life smoother

with support from others.

An Academic Star is the symbol of

intelligence. A person with this star

may have more desire for

knowledge and study throughout

their lifetime. These are both im-

portant assets needed for long-term

success. A year such as this when

both Noblemen and Academic Stars

are automatic in a person’s Four

Pillars of Destiny chart only happens

twice in the 60 year cycle. The next

chance with a similar good year is

2023, which is the Yin Water Rabbit

year.

1933, 1945, 1957, 1969,

1981, 1993 and 2005.

Famous Yin Metal People

they aren’t afraid to show

the world what they can do

and bask in the attention!

Jr., Kylie Minogue, Chuck

Stipe, Lady Gaga, David

Letterman, Eminem and

Conan O’Brien.

The Yin Metal Element Person

Yin Metal is represented by the trigram of “Lake” which symbolizes the mouth & speech. The Yin

Metal people are almost always well-informed and hold good conversations. They are probably

good at telling a joke and they know where to find the trendy/best spots and are more than hap-

py to tell you! For the upcoming year, it can have a negative effect such as gossip and scandals.

The unevolved characteristic to Yin Metal is that the element can bring a cold, harsh and cutting

nature; especially in their speech. The Chinese character for Yin Metal looks like a small decora-

tive object such as jewelry or a ring. 辛

In the Traditional Chinese Medicine system, Metal is the skin, which is the largest organ of the

human body. Typically a Yin Metal person has lovely skin. The Chinese also see Yin Metal women

as beautiful and charming. This person may also have gleaming teeth, a great smile, and a good

bone structure. Fire attacking metal this year is a destructive relationship so we can expect

problems related to skin, breathing and the lungs.

This year, if you are a Yin Metal person with a weakened immune system, you may be more

prone to inflammation, the flu and poor air quality issues. Be careful out there during harmful air

quality days! Since the fire element is Yin, we can see unexpected problems that are create sud-

den reactions– such as a stroke or blood clots. Many people born on a Yin Fire day suffer from

heart problems.

Yin Metal people are usually careful with money and do not invest recklessly (sometimes seen as

frugal). Because Yin Metal is easily molded, they can be very sensitive in a relationship; some-

times caring too much. Often these are people working in the medical field in order to be of ser-

vice to others. A Yin Metal person can detect a fake person from a real person right away. So,

they may keep their distance and are seen as arrogant and unfriendly. On the other hand, they

are great at playing politics and will always take care of themselves so as not to tarnish their

shiny image.

Annual 8 star - The East

East: 8 Annual Star The more prosperous area on the compass this year will be in the East. The energy visiting the East this year is the most helpful, noble, pleasant ener-gy and it can protect your wealth with its steady, stable influence. If you have a front door that faces this direction or you are facing this direction while working and/or sleeping, it is likely to be a fantastic year for money! So, if you can access this energy in the East, you can get an extra boost of luck. The East also holds the Three Killings energy which encom-passes the 75 degrees around it. If you must renovate, dig, or significantly disturb the earth, be sure to consult for auspicious date selection prior to beginning. Not sure if you can activate this or how to do so correctly?

Feng Shui Flying Stars: The Good Stars

South: 5 annual star, also known as ‘Five Yellow’ – symbolizing obstacles and misfortune. The

South has a visiting energy that may also indicate trouble with money, relationships and health.

It is particularly strong in the South. If you’re utilizing this direction by facing this direction

while working and/or sleeping to this direction, and begin experiencing these issues, con-

sider moving your bed or placing brass bells at the door.

Northwest: 2 annual star, also known as the ‘Illness Star’ - symbolizing health issues with stomach, digestion, reproductive organs or mid section of the body. Also, it may bring depres-sion. If a well-used door faces Northwest, and you moved in anytime after February of 2004, you can place brass bells on that door to weaken the energy. The male head of household or Father should take precautions! Southwest: 7 annual star, also known as a ‘Robbery Star’ indicates business deals falling through at the last minute, people owing you money and not paying you back, things being taken away unexpectedly, and can also literally mean people stealing from you. If you begin to experience any of the above, consider moving your bed, using different doors or facing a differ-ent direction to mitigate the negative effects.

West: 3 Annual Star, sometimes called the ‘Conflicts Star’ brings gossiping, fighting, argu-

ments, and legal issues. If you are utilizing this direction, be sure to observe your relationships

with others. Be cautious when driving. No texting while operating your vehicle and avoid

speeding/parking tickets. These occurrences can be annoying and it is important to be mindful

in case you are experiencing any of the above situations.

Grand Duke Jupiter – Each animal sign occupies specific degrees on the compass. The Rooster’s

place is directly West. For this year, we caution against any renovating, digging or other disturb-

ance of the ground to the West of your home or office, because it can be disruptive energy. If

you must, be sure to consult for auspicious date selection prior to beginning.

Center: 1 annual star is represented by the

Trigram Water. If the water element is help-

ful for you, it can bring balance to your home.

There may be more water related disasters in

the South and Central areas such as the Mid-

dle East or regions with the name ‘Central’ ie

Central America.

Northeast: 4 annual star indicating travel, romance, publicity and recognition in business, book writing, publishing success, and creativity. It can be a great help in meeting someone new if you’re single or get married if you are already in a relationship. Southeast: 9 annual star represents promotions, celebrations, weddings, good for spiritual development, medi-tation; great for jewelry designers, chefs, restaurant owners, interior designer and people in cosmetics.

North: 6 annual star is considered safe and usable because it belongs to the family of benevolent White Stars it brings a year of working hard for your money, good for ca-reer and authority, and receiving needed support.

Feng Shui Flying Stars: The Bad Stars

Page 5: What to xpect: The Year Ahead · Northwest: 2 annual star, also known as the ‘Illness Star’ - symbolizing health issues with stomach, digestion, reproductive organs or mid section

What is a clash? A clash is something that triggers movement. A clash is not always bad because it could be an opportunity but it does usually mean some kind of important change. This could be related to travel, moving into a new home or city, job change or some other kind of significant life event. If the clash is fulfilled through an op-portunity, nothing bad has to happen.

The Rooster is made up of the Yin Metal element. In general, it is associated

with the personal quality of leadership, loyalty to friends, brotherhood, and

justice. They like to rule the roost! The Rooster also carries an energy that

shows up to say “You need to see it my way.” The Rooster is known to be the

epitome of fidelity and punctuality; The Rooster has always been an alarm

clock for centuries. I suspect that people will feel like this is a “Wake-up Call’

type of year. Given the current social and economic climate, we can expect to

see more demands for social justice in the coming year. In 1957, President

Eisenhower signed the first civil rights bill since the Reconstruction. We are

likely to see more issues related to strong political views, healthcare, the mili-

tary (such as the Draft), helping the weak and infirm.

This year, The Rooster is considered to be an unfavorable animal. When a

person is born in a Rooster Year or Rooster Day, this is considered ‘offending

the year.’ Our first inclination is to say, “I was born in the Year of the Rooster

so, It’ll be my year.” Not everyone benefits from the energy of their own

year. This is considered more serious than a clash because it is a direct

offense. It is recommended for a person born in a Rooster year or Rooster

day to carry a Dragon pendant. One should be prepared because it can be an

opportunity to shine! Be yourself, stay focused and take very good care of

their health in this year.

The other animal sign that is

considered unfavorable this

year is the Rabbit. It is in the

direct clash with the Rooster.

If a person is born on a Rabbit

day, it could mean some kind

of surgery. The clash can also

show up in a person’s luck pil-

lar so, it is always best to have

an update on the Four Pillars

chart before selecting a per-

sonal cure. The Dragon is the

secret friend of the Rooster.

So, a person who is born on a

Rabbit Year or Day should car-

ry the pendant of the Dragon.

The animal signs in a better

position in the Year of the

Rooster are the Dragon (this

year’s secret friend) as well as

the Snake and Ox. The Snake,

Rooster and Ox form a special

combination and can have

more harmony this year. The

other animals which benefit

from the secret friendship of

the Dragon and Rooster are

the Monkey and Rat. They

were part of the harmony

combination last year in 2016.

So, the Monkey, Rat and Drag-

on are likely to have a more

favorable year in 2017.

Flower of Romance: Also known as a ‘Peach Blossom,’ is one of the more well-known

symbolic stars. The Rooster and the Rabbit are two of the four animals representing

this quality. The Rooster is the ‘Peach Blossom’ for a person born in either the Monkey,

Rat or Dragon year. Having a ‘Peach Blossom’ or being in the ‘Peach Blossom’ year can

bring out more charming and attractive qualities in a person. The person may be more

glamourous and have more romance in their lives. Depending on where this Flower of

Romance is within a person’s chart, we can expect this person to have more opportuni-

ties to meet the opposite sex and develop a romantic relationship. At the very least, it

can increase a person’s social activities! The Horse is the ‘Peach Blossom’ in the Year of

the Rooster. Having a ‘Peach Blossom’ can be very helpful to those in the entertain-

ment or fashion industry, media, marketing, and beauty professions. However, if the

Flower of Romance is not placed well in a chart, it can bring sex scandals or extra-

marital affairs.

If a person is single and seeking to stimulate romance, or already in a relationship and

hoping for a marriage proposal, there is a Feng Shui technique that may be implement-

ed. Do you know someone who is looking to activate a romantic life? The person should

have a consultation to make sure that the activation is done properly.

Travel: Another interesting aspect of the year is the ‘Traveling Horse.’ It is responsible

for the driving force to move a person around and travel (usually overseas). If a person

is born in the Year or Day of the Rooster, the person would need to have a Pig in their

chart in order to have this special quality.

What’s new at Feng Shui In Motion?

This past year, Jillian has been

engaged in a Classical Feng

Shui training intensive. This is

an on-going mastery series

studying the deep, ancient

formulas of classical Feng Shui.

Jillian is privately mentored by

Master Denise Liotta-Dennis.

Denise is the founder of The

American College of Classical

Feng Shui (ACCFS) and is part

of Grandmaster Yap Chang

Hai's Feng Shui Mastery line-

age.

At every turn, Jillian is imple-

menting the information and,

whenever applicable, testing to

ensure efficacy.

What is Classical Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is an integral support system for our lives. It is an ancient Chinese system of knowledge that helps us create harmony and balance within any environment. Even basic Feng Shui principles, applied correctly, can help us attain greater alignment with the positive energies already present in the places in which we live and work.

In Classical Feng Shui, among other things, we are concerned with Time and Direction. These are key pieces of information required in assessing the alignment and quality of the Feng Shui. The practice includes Eight Mansions, Flying Stars, both the Compass School and Form School perspectives and utilizes Four Pillars of Destiny analysis for the individual living/working in the space.

Classical Feng Shui is specifically tailored to the person in the space. What that means for you is that the long-term results can be deeper across all areas of your life. All of this benefits you because there are many different Feng Shui perspectives. Classical Feng Shui is typically viewed the oldest and purest application of this arm of Chinese metaphysics.

With a background which brings together rigorous, intellectual thinking with an intuitive and sensitive approach, Jillian combines the practical solutions with the authentic Feng Shui perspective to collaborate with her clients in personal and business matters.

Jillian is a member of the International Feng Shui Guild, a professional organization dedicated to the outreach of Feng Shui. She consults all over the USA and is proudly serving the greater Phoenix metro area. Jillian is currently based in Phoenix, Arizona.
