Summary

User Interaction Design can improve your company's products, services and performance

Relatively small investment can yield gains in time and efficiency

Usually a unique opportunity in the life of a company to identify how to make its best possible product or service for its best possible customer

What is User Interaction Design?

Interaction Design [..] is the discipline of defining and creating the behavior of technical, biological, environmental and organizational systems. Examples of these systems are software, products, mobile devices, environments, services, wearables, and even organizations themselves. Wikipedia

Interaction design attempts to improve the usability and experience of the object or system, by first researching and understanding certain users' needs and then designing to meet and exceed these needs. Wikipedia

A User Interaction Design project is a way to successfully bring all your companys resources together in an intensive development effort leading to excellence in your products and services within the shortest possible time

What can a Design Project do for your company?

Usually a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to start things right, (or put things right.)

It can save worker time by defining products or services in detail before implementation starts.

It usually adds little to the cost of a company start-up process or new product development.

It shows customers, partners and investors a commitment to producing the best product with highest likelihood of long-term success.

Lets you win by really being the best!

Create Scenarios/Personas/Profiles

Wire-framing and Flow Diagrams

Implementation

System Testing

1. Design Research

We investigate our users and their environment so we are better able to design for them.

2. Generate Concepts

We create concepts for new/improved software, products, services, or systems by researching our users, and by brainstorming, discussion, and refinement.

3. Create Personas,Use-Scenarios

We use customer data, interviews, surveys, etc. to discover user personas for whom use-scenarios with our improved product can be imagined.

4. Wire-framing & Flow Diagrams

We outline features and functions of our product or service using wire-frames, screen mock-ups (eg HTML or jpg).

We use flow diagrams for detailed definition of key system or individual functions.

5. Build Prototype, Do User Testing

We do experience testing with prototypes to test the role of a feature, test its look and feel and test the overall robustness of our implementation in the hands of real alpha users.

6. Implement design

Interaction designers should participate in development of the product or service to ensure that what was designed is implemented correctly.

If changes need to be made during the building process, interaction designers should be involved with any ongoing modifications to the design.

7. System Testing

The Interaction Designer can also be involved in final testing to evaluate the success of the interaction design, help fix bugs, test usability, etc.

The Final Deliverables

You get well defined user personas and use- scenarios for your product / service that can guide many aspects of business

The co$t of each stage depends on the nature and size of your business
