OUR IMMUNE MOLECULE ANDIT’S ROLE IN THE SUPPORT OF
THE SKIN AFTER MANIPULATION TREATMENTS.
THE GF1 AFTERCARE SKIN SERIES
Skin manipulations like laser treatment, dermabrasion
and acid-induced skin peels, needling, waxing and
mani/pedicures continue to grow in popularity. This
puts pressure on the professional therapist and medical
personnel to get the best result possible for each individual,
despite their different expectations and the difficulties that
might be posed by their particular skin type.

WHAT IS THE THOCLOR GF1 AFTERCARE SKIN SERIES HOCl?
HOCl is our own immune molecule that is formed by the human white blood cells (fig 1.), it is used by the body to fight infection and heal wounds. It therefore plays a central role in our immunity.
The Thoclor Labs method of production delivers a high quality and concentration of HOCl that is manufactured through an IP-protected process outside of the human body. The further addition of proprietary ingredients provide a product that is ideally suited to skin support after manipulation treatments.
Figure 1: Production of HOCl by the white blood cell.
BENEFITS
The four main benefits of Thoclor Labs GF Skin Series when used as an aftercare product to support the skin after manipulation are:
1. A strong antiseptic action against pathogens including biofilm, bacteria, viruses and fungi.
2. A reduction in the inflammatory immune response (less redness, pain and swelling) and a more responsive healing reaction to dermal stressors.
3. Much faster healing than without using the product.
4. Much lower risk of Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) in darker skin types.

1. Infection2. Scarring 3. Discolouration
4. Koebnerisation5. Dermatitis6. Prolonged erythema
HOCl causes respiratory loss in bacterial cell
membranes leading to cell death and nonviability.
Of particular importance in its antiseptic function, is
its biocidal preference against pathogenic organisms,
where the body’s normal bacteria are not destroyed.
HOCl is a very strong biocide. It has fast onset of
action against a wide range of pathogens: HOCl is
80 – 100 times more deadly against microorganisms
than bleach (sodium hypochlorite or NaOCl) and far
outperforms both NaOCl and H2O2 (peroxide). HOCl
is also effective against biofilm, which may form on
the laser-treated or peeled skin. (Biofilm is a protective
measure by certain microorganisms whereby a gel-
like layer is created surrounding these organisms.
HOCl destroys biofilm within seconds of application).
When skin manipulations are done, or even after
removal of body hair by waxing, infection is an ever-
present threat that could lead to stress for both the
client and therapist. Infection can also lead to scarring
and the inflammation that can result from infection
raises the risk of Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation
(PIH).
The reduction in the inflammatory response and its
specific immune response against pathogenic gram-
negative bacteria further support the beneficial effect
of HOCl on the skin.
Inflammation has three symptoms; redness, pain and
swelling. It also causes pigmentation in darker skin
types, especially when the skin is exposed to UV-
radiation whilst inflammation is present. Furthermore,
excessive inflammation is at the centre of the process
that leads to scarring (e.g. if infection develops) and
it is therefore essential that inflammation be kept
under control during the healing phase after skin
manipulation. The effect of HOCl on inflammation is
to suppress its progress on different levels.
The effect of this powerful suppression of inflammation
is thus to reduce pain, redness and swelling and
to limit the potential risk of PIH and scarring in the
healing skin.
The process of healing is also accelerated when HOCl
is applied to the skin. Healing is promoted by regulating
cytokines and growth factors. After chlorination of
taurine by HOCl, taurine chloramine enhances healing.
Enhanced healing also happens due to neutralization
and inhibition of pro-inflammatory factors. Other skin
disinfectants e.g. diluted bleach (Dakin’s solution),
povidone iodine (Betadine), H2O2 and citric acid are
cytotoxic and impede wound healing.
Treatment complications with chemical peel, laser, dermabrasion or waxing may include
THOCLOR LABS GF1 AFTERCARE SKIN SERIES WILL ASSIST IN PREVENTING ALL OF THESE COMPLICATIONS.
USING HOCl IS COMPLETELY SAFE
Internationally, the regulatory authorities have classified HOCl as safe for use by humans in various applications (including skincare). The US FDA has given HOCl a GRAS (Generally Recognized as Sage) certification, which is the highest safety classification possible.
SKIN TREATMENT COMPLICATIONS
SUMMARYIn summary, the use of Thoclor Labs GF1 Aftercare Skin Series to support the skin after manipulation stems from its main attributes:1. Prevents infection and the formation of biofilm (A major ethological factor in the progress of infection).2. Reduces inflammation (Less downtime, redness, pain). Inflammation control prevents PIH (Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation) and reduces the risk of scarring.3. Positive healing effect means less downtime. Clients can return to work in a shorter time.
