What have we lost?• Christ Commends them (Vs.2-3)• Acts 20 , The letter to the Ephesian church• A mighty and wealthy city • Strong in doctrine• Strong against heresy• Endured hardship• Revelation 2:2 - 3 “I know your works, your toil and your

patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. 3 I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name's sake, and you have not grown weary. ”

What have we lost?• Christ Counsels them (vs. 4)• Losing our first love –

• We become infatuated with knowledge instead of holiness• We become comfortable with ”Holy” instead of in awe of it• We see the world as our enemy , instead of our mission• We become dulled to small sins• We become content with ”good enough”• We begin to love others more than Christ

• Christ never lost nor loses his love for us!• Romans 8:38 - 39 “ For I am sure that neither death nor life,

nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

What have we lost?• Christ Cautions them (vs. 5 - 7)• Revelation 2 :2-5 “I know your works, your toil and your

patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. 3 I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name's sake, and you have not grown weary. 4 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent”
