Staffing update:
I warmly welcome permanently to our staff Ms Shantelle Camilleri who secured the Merit Selection
position of Classroom teacher in the Support Unit. Ms Camilleri will continue teaching K-2C in 2018.
We are very fortunate to have her permanently at our school now!
I also wish to acknowledge that Mrs Chandra Singh has been successful at Merit Selection in securing
the Learning and Support Teacher position. Mrs Singh will commence at Wentworthville in Week 6.
We also welcome permanently Mrs Nancy Khanlu who was successful at Merit Selection for the two
day (Monday and Tuesday) position of School Administration Officer. Mrs Khanlu is a familiar face and
will continue to work casually in the Office on Fridays as well.

This Term, students in Kindergarten will continue to be involved in the
mandatory subject Personal Development, Health and Physical
Education (PDHPE).
This subject prepares and supports students to lead, and contribute to, healthy, safe and meaningful lives
which promote respect, responsibility, enjoyment, inclusion and social justice for self and others.
Our focus over Semester 2 will be on Child Protection, Our Health, Medicines and Personal Safety. Lessons
will be taught in class each week for approximately 30 minutes.
Our school’s PDHPE program covers a wide range of education matter, including relationships, drug use,
human sexuality, child protection, fundamental movement skill development, safety and physical activity.
Some of the content of the program deals with sensitive issues. The school recognises this by teaching about
these issues within the context of a developmentally appropriate program and by providing information to you
about the program.
Early Stage 1 – Semester 2 will cover the following:- • Caring for your body, through nutrition and sun protection
• Feelings, needs and wants
• Personal health, nutrition and hygiene
• Body appearance, external body parts and senses
• Administration of medicine, safe use and storage
• Personal rights and responsibilities
• Water safety through safe places, play and survival strategies
• Recognising and responding to safe and unsafe situations
• Developing positive relationships and support networks
• Developing assertiveness (No Go Tell)
• Appropriate and inappropriate touching
• Safe play around the home and school
