EPIPHANY OF OUR LORD Sunday, January 7, 2018
ISAIAH 60:1-6
Arise! Shine! Your light has come; the Lord’s glory has shone upon you.
Though darkness covers the earth and gloom the nations,
the Lord will shine upon you; God’s glory will appear over you.
Nations will come to your light and kings to your dawning radiance.
Lift up your eyes and look all around: they are all gathered; they have come to you.
Your sons will come from far away, and your daughters on caregivers’ hips.
Then you will see and be radiant; your heart will tremble and open wide, because the sea’s abundance will be turned over to you; the nations’ wealth will come to you.
Countless camels will cover your land, young camels from Midian and Ephah.
They will all come from Sheba, carrying gold and incense, proclaiming the Lord’s praises.

+ Call to Worship (responsive) A star shines brightly to bring light for all to see. Shine in our world, Christ Jesus. A star shines brightly to guide our journey. Shine in our lives, Christ Jesus. A star shines brightly to call us together this day. Shine in our worship, Christ Jesus. May we carry your light to the world.
+ Opening Prayer (unison) Light of the world, shine upon us as we worship you. Draw us to your manger of light, that we might see your radiant presence. Guide us with your holy light, that we might walk in your ways. Shine in and through us, that we might be people of your radiant love, leaving footprints of light with every step we take. In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen.

Prayers for Joys and Concerns & The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

"What Does It Mean to Be United Methodist?" This is a class for people interested in joining the church, or even long-time members who simply want a refresher on UM theology and local church structure. Please sign upon the You Can Count on Me slip so materials can be prepared for you during this 3 week class, meeting in the Memorial Room on January 14, 21, and 28 after 9:30am worship.
Coffee and Conversation Group: Relaunches TOMORROW at Trinity Church! Change of Heart's Coffee & Conversation group has a new home in our church building in Room 209, from 9:30am - 12:30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Please stop in for coffee, cookies and checking out their new space, beginning on January 8.
Secret Sisters: Women’s Prayer Ministry begins again in February! All women are invited to participate in this ministry of caring and sharing with other sisters in Christ in 2018! You will be given a “sister” to pray for and encourage. Throughout the year, sisters pray for one another and send encouraging notes from time to time. Several get-togethers will be scheduled throughout the year, and a reveal potluck will be held in December. The short form with more information is available in the narthex. Please return it to the Church Office by Jan. 20th.
Alternative Worship Discussion: Dates to Remember We all experience God’s presence in worship in different ways. If you are interested in being part of developing our next worship service style here at Trinity Church, please join us on Saturday, January 20th as we visit Stillwaters UMC just outside of Jackson for their 5:00pm service. This UM congregation began as a new church start doing only contemporary worship. Please let Pastor Cherie know if you’d like to be part of the trip to this service. Carpooling is planned. We will then meet for a discussion on Tuesday, January 30 at 6:30pm in the Memorial Room to contribute ideas and discuss our experience at Stillwaters UMC and other worship experiences.
40 Days of Love: Thursday Noon Bible Study resumes in February! Of all the commands in scripture, Jesus said that two sum up all of the law: Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. In this six session study via DVD, Pastor Rick Warren teaches us to make love our top priority in life. Join us on Thursdays from 12:00pm-1:30pm beginning February 1st in the Memorial Room! Whether you are new to bible study or have been to many, ALL are welcome to join us! Bring a bible, notebook, and a lunch if you wish. If you have questions, contact Dana Carnine at (920) 382-4819.
MELODIES IN MISSION: Red Bird Mission The Melodies of Mission for January and February are Red Bird Mission. Red Bird Mission was founded in 1921 in the southeastern corner of Kentucky and provides education and evangelism ministries to the people of the area.
Radio Broadcast Schedule: Changes January 21st! On Sunday, January 21, 2018, Trinity Church will return to our regular worship broadcast schedule on WBEV 1430 at 11:00am. If you know someone who enjoys our radio broadcast, please let them know of this upcoming change. As we move to this new time, we will be airing the hour-long 9:30am service complete with all of our special music! Don’t forget that we also stream both of our worship services LIVE on the church website each Sunday!
Safety First in Questionable Weather As we enter the season of snow and icy roads, please be sure to put safety first when deciding whether to travel to church for worship and activities. Sunday worship and activity cancellations will be posted on our website (trinitychurch-unitedmethodist.org) and Facebook page. You can also hear an announcement on WBEV 1430AM and by calling the church office and listening to the recorded message at (920) 887-7211. On weekdays, Trinity youth activities will be cancelled if the Beaver Dam School District sends students home early or cancels after school activities due to weather concerns. If you feel you cannot travel to worship safely, please join our worship service through live streaming on our website or by listening to the radio broadcast!
