2 Priest Message & Community News

F R . S U D H A N S U ’ R E L F E C T I O N O N L E N T

Every year we celebrate Ash Wednesday where the Priest marks the forehead of the faithful with ashes and he says, “Remember man, that you are dust and to dust you shall return”. It was the traditional Ash Wednesday greeting that Mother Church used to give her children. The visible sign of ashes is only lived well by remembering the repeated reminder in the gospel of the Ash Wednesday to do one’s righteous deeds-prayer, almsgiving, fasting-in a hidden way unseen by anyone but God. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you. We need to renew a deeper faith in the acts that God alone can see. Friends, Lent is a special divine season to rectify our past mistakes and transform our life for the betterment of the society. We need to spend more time in prayer, penance, fasting, abstinence and mortification. It

is time to use food, time, water, electricity and drinks sparingly. We should never waste things and spend time for others so that we could do more charity for the needy and poor children. All sin is rebellion against God. So we need to stop gossiping, judging others, disobeying parents, and God’s commandments. We should not swear, try to become more prayerful and spiritual. All people must try to turn away from sinful behavior and try to become more faithful to the gospel. All disciples of Christ shun self-hatred and immoral behavior. We must try to become more honest and become like Christ in our daily life. I encourage you to forgive others and advise the faithful to go to confession often and to enjoy God’s forgiveness. A forgiving person are always happy, hilarious and healthy. They can live longer and can avoid a lot of sickness in their lives. Fr. Sudhansu Kumar OSB
