Mass for Life: On Sunday January 17, 2021 Bishop Taylor will preside at our annual diocesan Mass for Life. The Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Little Rock at 12:05 p.m. This Mass will also be live streamed on the Diocese of Little Rock YouTube channel to allow anyone to watch online. Subscribe to the channel to get notifications when new videos are posted. Unfortunately, because of corona virus, there will not be Eucharistic Procession for Life or a Hearts for Life Conference in 2021. Arkansas Right to Life still plans to host the March for Life on January 17 at 2pm behind the Capitol. Blessing of Houses and Cars (Epiphany 2021)

After the general blessing in the Church, each of us will take some holy water home to bless his house and his car.

This how we can proceed at home after participating to the celebration in the Church:

-The Father or head of household: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen!

- Father or heard of household: Let us praise God, who fills our hearts and homes with peace.

Meditation of Psalm 72: R. Lord, every nation on earth will adore you.

O God, with your judgment endow the king,

Después de la bendición general en la Iglesia, cada uno tomará agua bendita para bendecir sus carros y sus casas.

Aquí les presento una guía de cómo pueden bendecir sus hogares: -Padre ó cabeza de familia: En el nombre del Padre, y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo. Amén. -Padre ó cabeza de familia: Bendigamos al Señor, que llena nuestros corazones y hogares con Su paz. Del salmo 71 R/. Que te adoren, Señor, todos los pueblos.

Hoy celebramos la universalidad del Señor, fiesta conocida como la Epifanía. Celebramos, también la luz de Cristo manifestada en una estrella que guiaba a los Magos de Oriente hasta llegar a su encuentro. “Al entrar en la casa vieron al niño con María su madre; se arrodillaron y le adoraron. Abrieron después sus cofres y le ofre-cieron sus regalos de oro, incienso y mirra” (Mateo 2:11). Y, nosotros, ¿Qué podemos ofrecerte en este tiempo difícil que estamos pasando? Solo, nos resta decirte: ¡Señor, que tu estrella nos guie y nos ilumine a ser mejo-res personas, a integrarnos y ayudarnos en este tiempo tan duro que estamos pasando! Las lecturas nos hablan cómo la luz, de diferentes maneras, nos orienta y marca el camino, que es Cristo. Jesús brilla en todas las per-sonas de diferentes razas y estatus migratorio. El deseo de Jesús es esparcir su luz a toda persona, esa luz en otras palabras es su gracia, dada también en los Sacramentos. A pesar de todo lo que estamos viviendo actual-mente, la invitación estriba en que el corazón palpite y desborde de alegría en el Señor. Muchas han sido nues-

tras experiencias en este tiempo de pandemia. Los momentos han sido difíciles, pero la luz de Cristo ha brillado de mil formas en medio de la oscuridad. Ni la oscuridad de la enfermedad, de perder a un ser querido, de la falta de trabajo, por mencionar algunos, ha matado la esperanza. Esa esperanza que nos hace ir más allá de nosotros mismos para dar ayuda a quien lo necesita. ¿Qué harás hoy para que la luz de Cristo ilumine la oscuridad de otros? ©LPi

Epifanía del Señor 3 de Enero del 2020

La fiesta de la Epifanía tiene su origen en la Iglesia de Oriente. A diferencia de Europa, el 6 de enero tanto en Egipto como en Ara-bia se celebraba el solsticio, festejando al sol victorioso con evocaciones míticas muy an-tiguas. Epifanio explica que los paganos celebraban el solsticio invernal y el aumento de la luz a los trece días de haberse dado este cambio; nos dice además que los paga-nos hacían una fiesta significativa. Los paga-nos celebraban una fiesta mucho antes que los cristianos con ritos nocturnos en los que gritaban: "la Virgen ha dado a luz, la luz crece". Entre 120 y 140 AD los gnósticos trataron de cristianizar estos festejos cele-brando el bautismo de Jesús. Siguiendo la creencia gnóstica, los cristianos de Basílides celebraban la Encarnación del Verbo en la humanidad de Jesús cuando fue bautizado. Epifanio trata de dar-les un sentido cristiano al decir que Cristo demuestra así ser la verdadera luz y los cristianos celebran su nacimiento. Hasta el siglo IV la Iglesia comenzó a celebrar en este día la Epifanía del Señor. Al igual que la fiesta de Navidad en occidente, la Epifanía nace contemporáneamente en Oriente como respuesta de la Igle-sia a la celebración solar pagana que tratan de sustituir. Así se explica que la Epifanía se llama en oriente: Hagia Phota, es de-cir, la santa luz. Esta fiesta nacida en Oriente ya se celebraba en la Galia a mediados del s IV donde se encuentran vestigios de haber sido una gran fiesta para el año 361 AD. La celebración de esta fiesta es ligeramente posterior a la de Navidad.
