It is a parish goal to provide the sacraments to the life of our community, with the source and summit of that life being the Eucharist. We are committed to the challenge of the Gospel message: to make Jesus Christ more known and more loved.

Why does the priest mix a small amount of water with the wine to be consecrated?
The mingling signifies the union of the divine and human natures of Christ, the priest says, "By the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in the divinity of Christ, who humbled himself to share in our humanity." This mingling also signifies our union with Him in Holy Communion.

Dear friends, Wild New Year’s parties are nothing new. The priest Berossus describes dissipation, drunkenness and debauchery going on in Babylon more than 3000 years ago. Those people had good reason to get drunk as they let go of another year. They believed that life starts out great (“age of gold”), but after we reach our prime it’s all downhill. The passing years rob us of our ability to remember clearly, our muscle tone, our physical beauty, our sexual capacities, our ability to digest strong food --- until we keel over and die completely. And that was it. Christians, on the other hand, believe in a Savior who says: “Behold, I make all things new!” For Christians, the best of times is always ahead … in the future … when Jesus comes to raise the dead and begin the new creation that will last forever. Yes, we know that the passing years age us and rob us of life. But we are equally convinced that after all is taken from us God, in a passion of mercy, sends Jesus again and raises up the whole fallen world and inaugurates the New Age that never passes. Every passing year brings us closer to this. So … HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Peace, All Good! Fr. Mike Ps If anyone is interested in making an end of year Christmas gift to the Church, please take home a “blue sheet.” It’s a wish list of unbudgeted items --- most of them suggested by you --- we would love to get for our parish if we only had the money. See if there’s anything there you’d like to sponsor.
A Note from the Administrator...

Thursday January 1
9:00AM—New Years Eve
St. Margaret Mary Women’s Fellowship invites you to join us this New Year in a 10-week study called
Proverbs – Learning to Live Wisely.
The Book of Proverbs teaches us how to be successful and prosperous in our work, our dealings with family
and friends, and our relationship with God. The direc-tion and guidance they give us is practical, concrete,
reasonable and fruitful. We welcome women 18 years and older to make plans once a week to come, study
and seek guidance from the Scriptures and other Catholic Christian women and strengthen your
personal relationship with Christ.
Register now so together we may grow in wisdom! Our study begins Thursday, January 15th at 6:30 p.m. in our parish hall. There will be
registration after all Masses the weekend of January 3rd and 4th. You need not be Catholic or a member of
SMM Parish to join. The registration fee is $15.00 due the first night. This includes your book and other ma-terials you will receive during the study. Feel free to invite friends, neighbors, or family to participate with you! This is a great opportunity to meet new ladies and enjoy the fellowship of other Christian women.
If you have any questions or need more information
please feel free to contact Martha Ward @ (909) 598-8220
Celebrate the beauty and dignity of every human life!
Bishop Gerald Barnes and Auxiliary Bishop Rutilio del Riego would like to cordially invite you to join them at the first ever One1Life LA Walk for Life in Los Angeles, January 17th, 2015. By joining them and your Christian brothers and sisters, you are sharing the Church’s teaching that all human life has value and worthy of protection, par-ticularly the most vulnerable in our community. The event starts at 10 am at La Placita Olvera, Downtown LA and then begins with a walk up Temple Street, across Grand Avenue and down 1st Street. It then concludes with entertainment and exhibits from community organizations. For more information, please contact Mary Huber at 909-475-5352 or [email protected] or check out the website http://OneLifeLA.org. We are looking forward to seeing you.
