MOTHER TONGUE LANGUAGE CURRICULUM
• ThenewtextbooksforChinese,MalayandTamilhavebeenputtogether with the recommenda:ons of the 2010 MTL ReviewCommiLeeinmind.
• They have a greater focus on ac:vity-based lessons tostrengthenpupils'communica(onskills.
• A set of fic:onal characters will help to highlight the learningobjec:vesofeach lessonandactas rolemodels for theuseofthelanguage.
• The characters will be set in realis:c contexts to encouragestudentstocommunicateeffec:velyinreal-lifesitua:ons.Theseset of character will "accompany" students on their six yearslonglearningjourney.
MOTHER TONGUE LANGUAGE CURRICULUM • ThroughStoryTelling (TheuseofBookBooks) toencouragestudents tomake connec:on to the context in the textbook.Through story telling, students will be able to give theirpersonal point of view and give themmore opportuni:es toexpressthemselvesintheirownMotherTongueLanguage.
• The Small Reader could be use during Friday pre-assemblysilent reading programme. Pupils could read thesebooks andcompletetheac:vityinthesmallreaderontheirown.
• The Small Word Card are words taught during lesson, weencourage parents’ to revise the words taught in class withyourchildaWerschooltoassesstheirunderstanding.

MOTHER TONGUE LANGUAGE PROGRAMMES • MT department conduct cultural ac:vi:es duringMother Tonguelesson. Through these ac:vi:es, ALL pupils are encourage to usetheir own Mother Tongue language to communicate with theirpeers/teachers.
