Back Pack First Fruits offering - February 5, 2017
The youth will be at the door on the first Sunday of the month to accept your generous donations.
We will pack bags on Thursday, February 2, 2017
at 10:30 am
Historically during the months of January and
February, we find it necessary to
cancel church services and activities due to
inclement weather. We will be using the Robo
call system to keep everyone updated.

The Polk-Haralson Baptist Association will be
hosting a workshop here at the church on Tuesday,
February 21st at 6:00 pm. This workshop will be
covering church finances and tax issues as well as
many topics pertaining to church recording.
Bro. John McBride has asked for donations of desserts
for the night. Please contact me in the office if you
would be willing to volunteer.

To our new Pastor and his family, Rev. Jason & Michaela Odom
James & Lucy
Rev. Jason Odom and his family are from the Birmingham, Al area where he has lived since 1987. He lived in the suburb called Pleasant Grove, where he attended high
school and graduating as valedictorian. Upon graduating from high school, he attended Auburn University and
graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. From there he attended The University of Alabama, where he
graduated with a Master of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations. In 2012, he graduated with a Master of Divinity from Beeson Divinity School of Samford University and in 2014, he graduated with a Master of Theological Studies
from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Since 2009, he has been a Supply Preacher for various churches in the Birmingham area. He presently works as a Research associate to the Dean of Beeson Divinity School.
In 2012, Jason and Michaela were married and now have
two beautiful children, James and Lucy.
We welcome them to the First Baptist Church Family and look forward to them working with us. Be in prayer for
them as they start this new journey in their lives. His first Sunday here at FBC is tentatively planned for
March 5, 2017. ******************************************************************

given to several ministries within the church by David and
Hollie Smith in loving memory of their son, Andrew Smith.

Sunday, January 29th is our Ladies Tea in the Great Room at 3:00 pm. All our young ladies and little ladies are invited to participate. Our little ladies and Young ladies will have a special part in the Tea, so sign up
with Mrs. Jackie Adair.
Sunday, February 12th is our Church wide Valentine’s Fellowship at 6:00 pm. Make sure your family has signed up for this evening of great fun.
Youth Ministry
Sunday, January 29th, we will not have Youth or Band because of the Ladies Tea that begins at 3:00 pm.
Saturday, February 4th, WINTER JAM is here! We will meet at the Youth House at 1:30 pm and depart no later than 1:45 pm. Invite your friends to go with us to hear some of the top musical artist like Crowder, Britt Cole, Tenth Ave. North, New Song, Colton Dixon and many
other awesome groups. Cost of Winter Jam is $10 and this needs to be CASH, they do not take plastic! Also, you will need to bring money for dinner in the Georgia Dome,
and any CD’s, T-shirts, etc. that you wish to buy. We should return to the Youth House around 11:30 pm.
Sunday, February 5th, we will have our Super Bowl party at Mickey’s house beginning at 6:00 pm. Mickey’s
address is 29 Oakhill Drive in Forest North. I will have hot wings, chicken fingers and some dips. All the girls are asked to bring a 2 liter drink and the guys to bring you
favorite bag of chips. Youth Leaders are asked to bring your favorite dip or cookies.
