Class Description

• Read and analyze a variety of genres.

• Study a variety of literary elements and devices.

• Practice reading skills and strategies.

• Study a variety of vocabulary words and Latin and Greek roots.

• AR reading

Reading Goals• Students will:

Improve standardized test scores.Become life-long readers.Master comprehensions skills.Increase written and oral vocabulary.Improve reading fluency.

Reading Grades• Grades will consist of daily work,

response journals, vocabulary work, in-class activities and projects, quizzes, and tests.

• AR – 25% of quarter grade.– ½ % correct– ½ point goal

• Recovery – any D or F grade can be redone and raised to a C.

• Late grades will be lowered 10%.
