The robot is packed with twofoam strips securing itduring shipment. After
removing the robot from thecarton, first grasp the foamat (H) and pull up, then at
(I) and pull down.
Using the rear portion of the robot,tilt the robot onto its back.
DO NOT LIFT THE ROBOT BY THEBUMP GUARD (J).
Pull up to remove thefoam strip (K). Discard
both foam pieces.
Lift handle (L) of robot. With battery terminals (M) towardcleaner, slide batteries (B) into
place. Lower handle.
Plug charger (C) into wall outlet,then into robot. Charging thebatteries to full power will takeapproximately 8-12 hours (see
"The Batteries" section)

How to useThe Pull-Line feature
TipThe robot will reserve
enough power when it hascompleted its cleaning to be
moved by the Pull-line tothe charging location.
The Pull-line feature (A) is usedto move the robot forward and
steer it left or right without lifting it.
How to carry
Pull the Pull-line (A) out, andpull it either forward, left or right inthe direction you want the robot
to move.
The Pull-line automaticallyretracts to its storage position whenit is not being pulled. Continue to
hold the line while it retracts.
Lift handle latch (B) torelease and raise carry
handle (C).The robot should
never be carried bythe bump guard (D).
To reduce the carryingweight of the robot
and prevent possibleinjuries, the batteriescan be removed andcarried separately.
To remove the batteries,lift the handle of robot.Lift out each battery.
Replace batteries withterminals (E) toward thecleaner. Lower handle
and press down until itlatches.
Proper carrying andlifting of the robot

The BatteriesFirst use
Before using your robot for the firsttime, the batteries will need approxi-mately 8-12 hours to achieve a fullcharge.
During operationSeveral events will indicate that the
batteries need to be charged:• The Battery Light will glow redand the robot will stop cleaning.• An "E1" error code is displayed
When the battery power is low, allof the safety functions of the robot willbe fully functional. The Pull-line willalso function unless an "E1" error mes-sage is displayed. (See "DisplayMessages" section)
How to charge
Take the robot near an electricaloutlet by using the Pull-linefeature or carrying handle.
Turn the Cleaning ModeSelector to OFF
TIPWhen the battery
power is low, all ofthe safety functionsof the robot will be
fully functional.
Plug charger intowall outlet, then into
robot.
While the batteries arecharging, the Battery
Light (A) will flashgreen. When thebatteries are fully
charged, the BatteryLight will glow steady
green.
• Charging the batteriesto full power will takeapproximately 8 to 12
hours.
• The robot will clean forapproximately 1 hour oncarpet and slightly longer
on hard surface floorswhen fully charged.
•To maintain battery life,charge batteries aftereach use and keep fullycharged when robot is
not in use.
• If storing the robot formore than two weeks, itis recommended that the
batteries be fullyrecharged and then
removed from the robotto maintain battery life.
Battery Replacement/Recycling
Your cleaner contains sealed leadacid batteries that must be
recycled.When these batteries no longerrecharge, the batteries must be
removed and managed inaccordance with state
(province) laws. If you want toreplace the batteries in therobot, contact your dealer.

Before Cleaning
TipRemove obstacles,
such as toys, shoes,magazines etc. fromthe floor where the
robot will becleaning.
Room preparations
Review the Important Safeguards on pages 2 and 3.
To maximize the cleaning potential, it is recommended that you:
• Remove objects like clothing, loose papers, pull cords for blinds orcurtains, electrical cords, toys and fragile objects from the floor surface.
• Move and secure all electrical cords, wires and cables out of the reach ofthe robotic cleaner.
• Close exterior doors.
Robot Cleaning Modes
Cleaning Selector (A)The robot has four
settings.
OFF for when the robotis charging or not
in use.
Spot Clean (shown indisplay (B) as "CL 1")
cleans a small area in aspiral motion.
Use this mode to cleana small dry spill or
small area.The robot will spiral out-ward to maximum of 6ft., or until it encountersan obstacle. It will thentravel back to the centerand stop.
Quick Clean (Display"CL 2") cleans an aver-age size room (up to400 sq. ft., 37 m2) inabout 30 minutes,
making parallel passes.If the robot encounters
an obstacle, it willeither contour it or turnaround and continue
cleaning.

• Use the pull-line feature orcarrying handle to move the robot into theroom to be cleaned.
• Close doors to limit the robot to the area you want to clean. • Turn the Cleaning Selector to the desired setting. • Press the START button - the robot will go through a self
diagnostic phase. If everything is fine, the robot will begin cleaning.
If not, a message will be displayed on the display window. • When the unit starts the cleaning
program, it will show a movingline in the display window.
• To end cleaning, press the STOP button or wait until it stops for a low battery condition.
TIPWhen the robot
detects an obstacle,it will stop, turn
around and continuecleaning in thedirection fromwhich it came.
The robot is equippedwith multi-directionalsensors, which help
prevent it from bump-ing into walls and
other obstacles suchas furniture.
When the robotdetects an obstacle, itwill stop, turn aroundand continue cleaningin the direction from
which it came.
As a back-up, the robotis also equipped with abump guard (A). If itdoes bump into an
obstacle, the robot willstop, back up, turn
around and continuecleaning in the direc-tion in which it came.
Max Clean (Display "CL 3") cleans anaverage room (up to 400 sq. ft.,37 m2) in about 1 hour. The robot
makes overlapping passes to morethoroughly clean the area.
In cleaning modes, Quick (CL 2)and Max (CL 3), the robot will con-tinue to clean until either the bat-
tery charge becomes too low or theSTOP button is pressed.

TIPKeep top stairclear of clutter
The stair sensor allows the robot todetect a drop in the floor of 4 or
more inches (10cm) and preventsthe robot from falling down steps.
When the robot senses a stair, it willstop, back up, turn around and con-tinue cleaning in the direction from
which it came.
Auto DepartThe Auto Depart feature
allows you to program therobot to start cleaning on its
own after a designatedamount of time.
To set the Auto
Depart timer:
• Position robot inarea to be cleaned.
• Set the Cleaning Mode Selector (A) to
either Max orQuick Clean.
• Press the up ordown scroll button
until desired amountof time you want therobot to wait shows inthe display window.The timer can be setin 15 minute incre-
ments, up to 12 hoursmaximum. Each single
press of the scrollbutton will
increase/decrease theclock by 15 minute
increments. If a scrollbutton is held down,
the clock will change in1 hour increments.
The Stand-byIndicator Light (C)
will flash red.
The time remainingon the countdown
will flash every 2 to3 seconds. During
the final 15 minutes,the time remainingwill be fully dis-
played and an audi-ble signal willsound every 5
minutes. An audiblesignal will also
sound during thefinal 15 seconds ofthe countdown to
signal that the robotis about to start
cleaning.
NOTE: Be sure chil-dren and all obsta-
cles are clear ofrobot's operating
path at the time ofits delayeddeparture.

To ensure proper functioning ofthe stair sensor, keep the top step
clear of clutter.Periodically clean the stair sensors,
located on the underside of therobot, with a soft cloth(see Fig. 8, callout "T").

Auto Depart (continued)
When the timer has completed thecountdown, the robot will begin toclean the area where it is located,using the mode selected. The AutoDepart timer will need to be reseteach time Auto Depart cleaning isdesired.
To disable the Auto Depart duringthe countdown, turn the Cleaning
Selector (A) to OFF.
TIPTo set Auto Depart
time: Press scrollbutton once for 15minute intervals -hold button for 1
hour intervals.
The Child Lock prevents therobot from starting when theSTART button is pressed.
To set the Child Lock:• Set the Cleaning Selector to OFF
• Press STOP• Press LOCK (UP arrow) TWICE• All button presses must be
completed within 10 secondsof each other.
The Child Lock indicator light (B)will glow amber.
The display will show "Child Lock"if a button is pressed while in the
Child Lock Mode.

life. To "awaken" therobot, press a
button or pull outthe Pull-line cord.
To temporarily disable the Child Lock:
• Set the Cleaning Selector to SPOT,QUICK or MAX
• Press STOP
• Press UNLOCK (DOWN arrow)TWICE
NOTE: All button presses must becompleted within 10 seconds of
each other.
• Set cleaning mode selection andpress START within 15 seconds oftemporarily disabling Child Lock.
This will allow the robot to clean anarea upon demand.
When it is finished, the ChildLock is automatically reset.
The Child Lock indicator lightwill flash amber while the Child
Lock is temporarily disabled.
To completely disable theChild Lock:
• Set the Cleaning Selector to OFF
• Press STOP
• Press UNLOCK (DOWN arrow) TWICE
The Child Lock indicatorlight will turn off.
Sleep Mode
After a period of 60seconds of inactivity,
the robot will enterSleep Mode to
conserve batterypower. When therobot enters Sleep
Mode, the Stand-byIndicator Light (A) will
flash red.
The display windowwill be blank UNLESS
Auto Depart is set.(see "Auto Depart"
section)
To "awaken" the robot,press a button, or pull
out the Pull-linecord.
Once the robot has"awakened", the displaywindow (B) will showthe current selection
(CL1,CL2,CL3)or anerror code if a problemhas been encountered.

The dirt cupWhen to emptyIt is recommended that the dirt cupbe emptied before the dirt reachesthe dirt opening at the top of the
dirt cup, or after every use ifpreferred.
• The "Check Display" indicatorlight will flash red when the dirt
cup is full.• If the display window reads "E4",then the dirt cup and filter should
be emptied and cleaned. A cloggednozzle or airpath could also cause
the "E4" to be displayed.
How to empty
Turn Cleaning Selector to theOFF position. Lift up carrying
handle (A).
Note: Very fine materials, suchas face powder or cornstarch,may seal the filter and causeloss of suction. When using
the robot for this type of dust,empty the cup and clean the
filters often.
Lift dirt cup (B) out of robot. Pull open dirt cup door (C). Empty contents into a trash can.
If debris has collected in the dirt tube,(D), it can be removed and emptied. Liftup on tube handle and pull to remove
tube. To replace, snap into place.

Maintenance
How to clean the filter
Remove dirt cup and open dirt cupdoor as shown in Figs. 37 and 38.
Slide the filter assembly (E) out of thedoor (F) as shown.
Remove filter from dirt cup door. Tapend of filter against the side of a trashcan until no more dust particles fall
from the filter. DO NOT tap softpleated sides of filter as this could
damage the filter. DO NOT rinse orwash the filter.
TIP
It is recommendedthat the robot be
fully charged beforestoring it to maximize
battery life.
Wipe debris off pre-filter screen (G).The pre-filter screen can be rinsedwith water. Allow pre filter to dry
thoroughly.
Press filter back into place.Close dirt cup door and
replace dirt cup into robot.
Should you want to replace thisfilter, please contact your dealer.
Do not operate the robot withoutany of the filters in place.

Storage and Brush Roll Storage

NOTE: New brushes can bepurchased and installed at
your dealer.
It is recommended that the robot be fully charged before storing it.Store robot with Cleaning Selector in the OFF position.
If storing the robot for more than two weeks, it is recommended that youfirst fully charge the batteries, and then remove the batteries from the
robot to maintain battery life.
Cleaning the brush rollThe brush roll (A) can be removedand cleaned if there is something
tangled or caught on it.
Turn selector to OFF.
Press and hold the UNLOCK (downarrow) button until you hear a beep and
brush roll "click" down.
Remove the batteries as described inFig, 12.
Pull up on tab (B) behind brush roll andremove the brush roll.
Remove tangled or caught items from brush roll.
Press both ends of brush roll to makesure it is secure.
Using the rear portion of the robot,tilt it back into its wheels.
Do not lift the robot by the bumpguard.
Re-insert batteries.
Using the rear portion of the robot,tilt the robot onto its back.
DO NOT LIFT THE ROBOT BYTHE BUMP GUARD.
To reposition the brush roll, align itwith the top of the nozzle opening (C)
and press to snap it in place.

Friendly Robotics RV Series Limited Warranty
Friendly Robotics warrants to the original purchaser that the RV series ‘Product’ is free from defects in materials andworkmanship when used under normal residential* purposes for a period of 12 months, beginning from the date ofpurchase. Product accessories, including replacement batteries, are warranted for a period of ninety days from the dateof purchase. This warranty provides for the cost of parts and labor to repair covered defects when performed by anauthorized Friendly Robotics service and warranty facility. A valid proof of purchase is required for warranty repairs.The limited warranty does not cover transportation costs of any kind. The owner bears all responsibility fortransportation costs to an authorized Friendly Robotics service and warranty facility.
*Normal residential purposes is defined as use of the product on the same lot as your primary home. Use at more thanone location is considered commercial use, and this warranty would not apply.
Items and Conditions Not Covered
This express warranty does not cover the following:
• Any product or part that has been altered, misused, abused or requires replacement or repair due to accidents orlack of proper maintenance.
• Normal wear and tear, including brushes, filter and fading of paint or plastic parts.
• Any costs or damages associated with improper use of product.
• Any product that has been opened, repaired, modified or altered by anyone other than a Friendly Roboticsauthorized repair facility.
• Repairs necessary due to improper battery care and/or improper charging process such as charging in wetconditions, electrical supply irregularities, or failure to properly prepare the robotic surface cleaner or battery priorto any period of non-use.
• Repairs necessary due to water damage or any acts of God.
Instructions for Obtaining Warranty Service
Should you feel your Friendly Robotics product contains a defect in materials or workmanship, contact the retailerfrom whom you purchased the product.
Owner Responsibilities
You must maintain and care for your Friendly Robotics product by following the maintenance and care proceduresdescribed in this manual. Routine maintenance, whether performed by a service provider or by you, is at your expense.
General Conditions
Repair by an authorized Friendly Robotics service and warranty repair facility is your sole remedy under thiswarranty. There is no other express or implied warranty. All implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for useare limited to the duration of this express warranty. Friendly Robotics is not liable for indirect, incidental orconsequential damages in connection with the use of the Friendly Robotics Product covered by this warranty,including any cost or expense of providing substitute equipment or service during reasonable periods of malfunctionor non-use pending completion of repairs under this warranty. Some states do not allow exclusions of incidental orconsequential damages, or limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above exclusion and limitationsmay not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which varyfrom state to state.
