Welcome Back! Welcome back to the new school year. We hope you all had a fantastic summer break and, like us, you’re looking forward to a successful and enjoyable new academic year at Perranporth School! It’s only been a couple of days but the children have quickly settled into their new clas- ses and slotted back into the routines of school. The ‘new recruits’ in Reception also seem to be settling in very well and getting to know their new surroundings. We are very pleased to welcome some new members of staff and some changes to the team; Mrs Green who is teaching in St Piran (Y1), Mrs Richards who is supporting in Boscawen (Y3), Mrs Clarke who is supporting in Trengrouse (Y4), Mrs Rowe who is supporting in Trelawny (Y5) and Mr Garrett who is supporting in Davy (Y6). We hope they all enjoy their time here at Perranporth. In some other news… we would like to congratulate Mrs Laity on welcoming her new baby girl into the family. ‘Elle Florence Laity’ was born during the summer break and both she and Mrs Laity are doing brilliantly! As usual, the newsletter, school website, Dojo messages and Facebook page are the best ways to keep in- formed about what’s going on in school. Newsletters go home every Friday via email or by downloading from the school web- site. If you ever have any problems, queries or just fancy a chat, you can usually find me at the school gate in the morning or feel free to come into school and we can arrange a meeting - we’re only too happy to help. Mr Johnson Meet the Teacher Meet the Teacher’ sessions will take place next Monday 9th Sept for all classes. Teachers will open their classroom doors to talk to parents about the new academic year ahead; the learning that children will be covering, special events/trips taking place, expectations in the classroom, details about homework, etc. It’s a great opportunity to get to know your child’s new teacher and to ask any questions that you may have. There are two sessions 3.30pm - 4pm and 5.00pm – 5.30pm (in case you have more than one child), no appointment is needed, just turn up. We very much look forward to seeing you there! Parking and The School Routine Just a couple of reminders … The school carpark should only be used by members of staff and parents with disability badges. For the safety of pedestrians, please do not park in the school carpark or on the pavements or other hazardous areas leading into the school. Free parking is available in Wheal Leisure car park during drop off and pick up times - parking passes can be collected from the School Office. (One per family). Each morning the school gate opens at 8:40. Children and parents should wait either outside of the classrooms or on the playground until 8:45 when the 1st bell rings and teachers collect their classes to take the children into the building. Wherever possible and appropriate, we would encourage children to walk into the school building by themselves to begin developing their independence and to help calm the congestion of people around the site. The 2nd school bell rings at 9am at which point chil- dren should already be inside their classrooms. Classroom doors are shut when this bell rings, however the green gate will still be open for one or two minutes to allow parents to leave the site after dropping their children off. If children arrive after 9am, they must make their way to the front of the school and sign in as ‘late’ through the office. It is extremely important that children arrive at school in plenty of time to ensure they are able to settle properly, ready for the learning opportunities and exciting day ahead. Nut Free School A reminder that we are a nut free school. Your kind co-operation would be greatly appreciated by ensuring your child does not bring nuts or other obvious nut products into school as part of their snack or packed lunch. We also request that parents baking cakes for the Friday Cake Sale avoid using nuts in their ingredi- ents. Thank you. Breakfast Club Don’t forget that Breakfast Club runs every morning before school. It is charged at £3.00 per child in- cluding breakfast (cereal, toast, fruit, yoghurt, fruit juice). Places are available and should be booked in advance with all booking forms printable from the school website or available from the School Office; bookings can also be made by phone (01872 572021). Children can arrive from 8am but must be taken and registered by a parent in the actual Breakfast Club, not dropped off at the Office door. Thank you.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to the new school year. We hope you all had a fantastic summer break and, like

us, you’re looking forward to a successful and enjoyable new academic year at Perranporth

School! It’s only been a couple of days but the children have quickly settled into their new clas-

is supporting in Davy (Y6). We hope they all enjoy their time here at Perranporth.

In some other news… we would like to congratulate Mrs Laity on welcoming her new baby girl into the family.

‘Elle Florence Laity’ was born during the summer break and both she and Mrs Laity are doing brilliantly!

Mr Johnson

Meet the Teacher

‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions will take place next Monday 9th Sept for all classes. Teachers will open their

classroom doors to talk to parents about the new academic year ahead; the learning that children will

be covering, special events/trips taking place, expectations in the classroom, details about homework,

Parking and The School Routine

Just a couple of reminders …

The school carpark should only be used by members of staff and parents with disability badges. For the safety of

pedestrians, please do not park in the school carpark or on the pavements or other hazardous areas leading into

the school. Free parking is available in Wheal Leisure car park during drop off and pick up times - parking passes

can be collected from the School Office. (One per family).

Each morning the school gate opens at 8:40. Children and parents should wait either outside of the classrooms or on the

playground until 8:45 when the 1st bell rings and teachers collect their classes to take the children into the building. Wherever

possible and appropriate, we would encourage children to walk into the school building by themselves to begin developing their

dren should already be inside their classrooms. Classroom doors are shut when this bell rings, however the green gate will still be

School Uniform Vouchers

We would like to make parents aware of a uniform voucher service that is available to all parents of children

who are in receipt of free school meals or eligible for Pupil Premium funding.

We are now using a portion of our Pupil Premium funding to offer parents a £30 uniform voucher per pupil. These

vouchers can be used to purchase any two items of school uniform (or equivalent) at Keywear in Truro. If you are

in receipt of income support, income based job seeker's allowance, income related employment support and

allowance, child tax credits (with an annual income of no more than £16,190) then your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium

Funding. If you think your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium funding / free school meals, please pop in or call the school

office to fill out a short form or look on our website. Pupil Premium funding is available to children in all year groups and is in addi-

tion to the Universal Infant Free School meals which is available to all KS1 pupils. Every child who is registered as eligible for pupil

premium generates valuable income for the school and this eligibility will also help you access financial assistance with various

school costs such as trips, clubs and music tuition.

Perranporth Reading Rewards

Our reading reward system, ‘The Ultimate Bookworm Challenge’, starts next week. This year Miss Pryor

has got the same exciting incentives in mind and the same regular reading from children is what we

want to see! More details will be released next week!

After School Clubs

Letters with information about the new after school clubs will go out on next week. Clubs will be starting from the

following Monday, 16th Sept. If your child wishes to attend any of the clubs available, please return your completed

form, either to the class teacher or School Office as soon as possible. If you do not receive a letter, please ask at the

Office.

Friends of Perranporth School

There will be a FOPS meeting at school on Friday 13th Sept at 9am in school straight after

drop off. We really need lots of new members. You don’t have to commit yourself to anything, just help

out whenever you can. The meetings are always very informal, young children are welcome to come

along if childcare is tricky. It would be great to see you and have your support for our school!

Cake Sales - 50p Fridays

Our 50p Fridays are back next week, this week it was FOPS who kindly baked. For those who are new to the school, we hold a

Cake Sale every Friday at pick up time, in the Parents Waiting Hut. All cakes are 50p with the money raised going towards FOPS

funds. We have a class rota so parents only need bake when it is their turn but if you love to bake then feel free to bring cakes

along to the stall ANY week! Please do remember that we are a nut free school. Thank you.
