Personal Resilience in Times of Stress: a 3-week class focused on emotional resilience led by Dr. Mary Steinhardt, UT professor and researcher | Sundays April 8, 15, and 22 | 9:15 am| Huffman Hall In our class on “Better Conversa-tions,” we have been stressing the need for emotional strength in engaging people on the other side of thorny political/social issues. We labeled this emotional strength “resiliency.” As a follow up to “Better Conversations, Dr Steinhardt will help those gathered develop their capacity, over the course of three weeks, to take emotional risks in order to solve problems and deal with issues in their lives and in their relationships, especially those with whom they experience conflict. Dr. Steinhardt's aca-demic interests focus on the development and implementation of programs that enhance individual and organizational resili-ence. Her research explores the determinants and methods for building resilience and strength when challenged with change and stressful situations. Check out Dr. Steinhardt’s website for more information: https://resilience.education.utexas.edu/index.html. Submitted by Merrill Wade

Help us with Easter Lilies to Welcome the Risen Lord As you may have noticed, Lent is a time when there are no flowers on the altar or in the Commons, as we use this meditative time for reflection and renewal. On Easter Sunday, though, we’ll welcome the Risen Lord with an abundance of flowers and lilies all around the sanctuary! You can help the Flower Guild provide those flowers by contributing a donation in the envelopes provided in the chairs of the sanctuary or by just making an annotation of “Easter Flowers” on the memo line of your check. Please join us in making our church a beau-tiful place to celebrate Easter! We will honor all those who donated by listing names in the Easter Sunday Order of Service. Please send your dedications to Christine Havens at [email protected] by Tuesday, March 27. Thank you! Submitted by Joyce Statz
